Your two reasons for using a T4 are why I build one. I have my own printer, and I like the customization. I've printed a custom shroud which adds to the rigidity. When you factor in PETG construction over PLA, it's a lot tougher than a standard printed blaster from a vendor.
@BradleyPhillipsYT
@BradleyPhillipsYT Год назад
With injection molded blasters readily available, there's not really any monetary incentive to buy a pre-built printed blaster. If you have a printer though, it makes more sense. Out of curiosity what would it cost you to print one at home including hardware? Ignoring the price of the printer.
@VirginiaRican
@VirginiaRican Год назад
@@BradleyPhillipsYT It cost me about $170 to build something that Frontline foam would sell for about $350 (if they offered all the features that mine does, but they don't). Injection-molded blasters are displacing much of the market share previously occupied by printed blasters. They can also provide an excellent introduction to competitive Nerf (Nexus pro). They're readily available, tougher, just as upgradable, etc. Better in nearly every way. The only way they don't beat printed blasters is when it comes to customization. This goes for cosmetics AND performance. All the guys in my local group that have injection-molded blasters are using aftermarket parts (barrels, BCARs, springs, plunger tubes, etc) that my printed blasters have from the start. Every printed blaster I make is a high-performance, bespoke piece. Some of them look like cosplay props as well, but their internal performance matches their looks. This is a niche of our hobby that I don't think injection-molded blasters will displace. Printed and off-the-shelf blasters will always thrive side by side in our sport.

@@BradleyPhillipsYT Well if you have a printer and love to build this is a great blaster. But if you don't, off the shelf is the only way to go. $28 aud in my slicer with $38 a kg ABS filament. Made extra strong with files modded to tighten clearances, mine makes the injection molded blasters feel like thier made out of tissue paper. Thanks for the video i will look into posting the modified stls with slugs permision.

@@BradleyPhillipsYT ignoring overseas shipping costs from the US (since I always go for premium shipping) a T4 hardware kit is like 75 USD with some options. Personally prefer the SBL but that’s also an option. Even for injection molded blasters I still use my printer, the convenience of printing replacement parts and sights without worrying about power tripping customs is invaluable.

Having found an even tinier Talonclaw that utilizes Retaliator springs, the Mini-Claw is also pretty awesome. Fabulous for those 150fps limit games. There is also a version called the PAB (3 versions of it) which utilize different kinds of hardware... interestingly the v3 PAB utilizes Longshot springs. And while it does use flatbar, it uses carbon rods to support the prime, and you can get a version that uses linear bearings on the carbon rods for a much much smoother prime, like the other newer injection-molded offerings which feature bearing-assisted primes.

This is a nice blaster yet I wonder if something like a Lynx would be more practical for super CQB environments because it is a bulllpup meaning less exposure. My group plays a lot of CQB and oddly enough some people use Caliburns and Lynxes but no one has opted for a talonclaw.

Bullpup allows for a longer barrel, and thus more power in a smaller package. The Lynx or the Xshot Longshot are great for CQB.

Having gone to an actual game finally in my Singapore holiday … the amount of SBLs is ridiculous, didn’t see a single caliburn and/or talon claw. Hope Gavin manages to set you up with one to test, having used one as a donor it is significantly more solid than the 28N spring nexus I use (makes it funny someone here suggested the nexus makes 3D printed blasters obsolete 😅).

For me - someone who doesn’t own a 3d printer nor have cheap access to use/borrow one - the T4 is a practically obsolete purchase competing with cheaper and more durable injection molded blasters. However it one of the best looking blasters ever made IMO. The Caliburn and Talon Claw platforms may be arguably outdated, but respect should always be given to classics and trailblazers

What was happening during the 30m range test where you had to slam back the prime so many times? was the catch failing? i noticed it several times throughout the video as well.
@FrontlineFoamBlasters
@FrontlineFoamBlasters Год назад
Likely due to the sear being a bit more loosely fitted then a Caliburn. Makes it so the sear can actually move backwards so depending on the spring compression, can make the last tiny bit of draw distance more difficult. A weaker/shorter spring wouldn’t have that problem. Really heavy Longshot springs in numerous builds can have that slam-back final prime problem. The Longshot Spring plunger also angles when primed since the sear is on the bottom causing the sear looseness+spring+plunger variables to stack up. I get 300 FPS from my T4 with just the non longshot Acetal Plunger and a cut down Pro25 spring without the need for slamming the prime.
@BradleyPhillipsYT
@BradleyPhillipsYT Год назад
Basically it was catching on the spring instead of the plunger. I mentioned this during the video.

I wonder if bamboos are only effective past 250fps and/or for 17/32 brassed barrels My local group (US based) says they’re mostly a gimmick to artificially inflate the FPS; their range and accuracy are subpar to standard W3+s. However we rarely play past 250 fps and most rounds are under 180 fps due to liability concerns From what I see they’re a more specialized dart kinda like the dragon darts whereas AFPs/DZMs/W3+ are more “jack-of-all-trades” darts
@BradleyPhillipsYT
@BradleyPhillipsYT Год назад
I find bamboos are more consistent in velocity and jam less than standard version of the same darts. Range is about equal between bamboo and standard of the same darts.
@mhebert350
@mhebert350 Год назад
considering their weight and sturdier foam higher quality, they are simply the best you can get on the present market. By far. they does not artificially inflate fps like the DZ bamboos or the dragon EPP, they weight the same as the non bamboo HE version(1g). it gain fps by lowering friction area, unlike the shitty DZ bamboo who does it by lowering the weight (0.7g)
@FrontlineFoamBlasters
@FrontlineFoamBlasters Год назад
I’ve found the lower friction of the bamboo ribs do make a difference in performance. It’s probably most noticeable at higher FPS though since the variables seem to have a more exponential effect at those higher power levels, if that makes sense.

i have a t4 i built it way before the harrier and i think personally i would never buy a t4 from most of the guys like frontline or silver fox i think it’s just cheaper to buy the kit or just buy a harrier the only good thing is the fast swap of a spring if you want to run it in different fps rounds is super fast to change the spring.

Nice vid. Thing is, with the x shot pro longshot hitting 270 fps on and upgrade of just a bit of k26/25, and costing only £35, I'd be tempted to say, this is obsolete in terms of where the tech is now. (I mean, I stiffed a stock retal spring in my x shot pro and it hit 190-200 fps. and cost about 1/10th). This is NOT a criticism of this blaster though. It's just that things haver moved on SO fast in the last couple of years. It's a great blaster, just outdated by todays offerings. Not that I care; If I had the £, I'd get one.
