Here is a cool history fact, Christopher lee was a volunteer in the winter war but here the catch he was way behind the border as a guard then winter war ended after 2 weeks of staying. 😂

Reminder, the Finnish are not as invincible as shown here. They didn't have a lot of soldiers, even at maximum mobilization, so they weren't a strong force in general. What the Finnish specialized in were ambushes, elastic defense strategies and hit and run tactics. The reason the war lasted so long is how well ambushes were placed. Snipers everywhere, troops in different pockets or foxholes, ski divisions, etc. The plan was as simple as: go in, kill the enemy (or as much as possible) and leave as quickly as possible. However, in direct confrontations, Soviets would usually win the battle. They had a MASSIVE amount of manpower to throw at the enemy, and a really good industry, capable of producing rifles efficiently. Soviet tactioners were not dumb either, they eventually found out to how to counter the finnish strategies more successfully. The Finnish weren't able to hold onto the Mannerheim line, showing how weak the Finnish were in direct confrontation and required a large amount of fortifications to survive direct confrontation. I'm not downplaying the Finnish, or pretending the Soviets are great, the Finnish fought amazingly against the Soviets in the Winter War and Continuation war, many died for both of the nations, and we remember the sacrifices on both end. I do not want to throw feather and tar onto the Finnish armies, but neither the Soviet. People died on both sides, and I just wanted to make sure people understood the true nature of the war.

Dude, I have to give the Finns some respect. They fought off a literal horde of soviets as best as they could, using every trick they could think of to win. Even though they lost, the Finns didn't go down like a bitch, but fought tooth and nail for every inch of Finnish land. That takes some serious stones to do. Interesting fact: Both the Soviets and the Finns in this cartoon have weapons that did not exist at that time, for example the PPSh-41. Date of development: 1940. But it went into production only in 1941. And the winter war was in 1939

Граница было отодвинута от Лениниграда. Летом я ездил путешествовать на машине в Выборг и Терриоки. Это очень красивые места и они теперь россиские. Так, что СССР победил в этой войне, не смотря на большие потери. По результатам были сделаны выводы, в Красной Армии были реформы. И... наши солдаты получили новую зимнюю форму по типу финской. А многие фото, где финны глумится над телами наших погибших бойцов не делает чести.
