Hat off to SkyJay for playing a char in a much lower tier, yet managed to push Spago to game 5 and last stock 👍

Just imagine if Incineroar had better physics. Like even just a little bit faster movement on the ground and the air...

Skyjay went last game, last stock against the #2 in the world and put the FEAR OF GOD into him. With GODDAMN INCINEROAR. That's a win in my books.

I wonder if Spargo has fought an Incineroar at this level before. On paper, Pyra/Mythra completely destroys Incineroar, but Skyjay seems to find the right situations to get gimps to make it a close set. If they fight again, it wouldn't surprise me if Spargo learned the matchup better and it wouldn't get as close.

Everyone really underestimates Incineroar's recovery. I wouldn't consider it good but it's definitely not one of the worst in the game. He has a side b and up b to help, neither of which put him in freefall and he's probably one of, if not the best reverse edge guarders.

Even though Sparg0 spaghetti'ed a few of his own stocks away at early percents, it is quite impressive that Skyjay managed to bring this to game 5.

I think people are missing what Skyjay took advantage of this game. Both Pyra and Mythra cannot drift that far left and right out of up b, so little that Incin nair can ruin their stock regardless of percent due to the angle Sparg0 kept getting sent. Pyra/Mythra have a Space Animal problem of being easily gimped in disadvantage and it’s really showing. And especially with no way to angle their own recoveries like most chracters, die exceptionally easy at ledge. I think if Sky jay went for more throws off ledge and covered recovery with Nair/Alolan whip like he was in the second half of the game, he’d have won much easier instead of trying to play the ground game vs the stronger and faster characters who can abuse his lack of range and speed.

Man, if only Nintendo gave Incineroar an actual buff, instead of just inexplicably boosting his up-B damage a few percent

That was such a damn good set. Props to both players there for just truly playing like pros.

I really wish Incineroar was better. It would be cool if you could use his up B without the second part where he descends. And you would have to press it twice or press and hold to go back down, like with Cloud or Sephiroth. That one small change would help a lot with mixups, especially if he could act quickly out of it, because then you could do the first part of the up b and follow it up with a side b, double jump, air dodge, down b, aerial, whatever. I feel like his grab range should be buffed too. Obviously it would better if he had more practical buffs like movement speed or air speed, or frame data but I feel like that could make him broken

Spargo was so good at avoiding the Revenge attempts. If Skyjay got even 1 or 2 more of those each match, I think Spargo would have lost.

I just want to celebrate for a minute how Nintendo did a really good job balancing heavy weights in this game. Sure, they still have their problems. But more than ever before their absolute power can actually be a difference maker. People often pick the fast combo characters that don’t hit as hard but over the last year we have seen so many heavy weights on the up and up that it’s starting to become undeniable that these character can hang. In some ways it’s less stressful knowing you just need one good hit. But only in some ways :P

I love watching Skyjay play! Knowing spargo’s reputation I thought Skyjay would probably loose, but still hoped to get a show and ho boy I totally did!

13:28 I think skyjay's decision to down throw instead of back throw cost him the set. it reset to neutral and spargo started to gain momentum from this point. skyjay was doing so well at edgeguarding so it felt bad to see the lead turn into a loss

Sparg0 seems to get the most interesting matchups. It helps that he himself has a very diverse pool of characters.

Fun set! Spargo definitely got a little greedy not respecting his opponent the third and fourth game but glad to see him get his composure and get the win

I'd be happy if they nerfed incin damage in order to get a buff to his speed

Skyjay did well but i def. think he was scared in this set, he kept trying to landing on Spargo for some odd reason? and those bad counters man, ugh. Also not going for obvious Side Bs to kill Spargo, he really could've won at 14:19 if he Side B instead of Ftilt but alas that's not how this timeline goes :/well ggs tho to both players.

Same sorta thing happend with Leo's Byleth vs. Debuzz's Min Min. Learned the matchup and just erased Min Min out of existance in the grand finals.

On that 5th game all sparg0 did was stop going off stage until the last stock so he didnt get cheesed lol

Incineroar looks like an incomplete character compared to the DLC characters. It's sad too because if Incineroar was DLC you know he would be busted

In my opinion, just like Byleth, Incineroar is a secret top tier, maybe he is slow, but he have a versatile recovery, good punishment options, the most dangerous counter in my opinion, and a frame 6 move. Skyjay REALLY know how to use it
