She is an absolute stud, I do not care if it is in poor taste in 2023, she is sexy, confident, and moves around the kit so damn well, so smooth, I love it!!
This is Insane!!! Love the sound of the cymbals (esp the stack) and the groove is unreal! Only thing is I'd love a bit more snare and toms? They seem to get lost in the mix a bit. Otherwise, fantastic!!!
Anika needs more credit. Girl has power, speed, dynamics, articulations, and more over control that equals her creativity. Easily one of the best drummers around these days.
Hey! I'm glad you like it! I have an album and lots of single tracks to purchase. Just check iTunes or Amazon... the most of them also available as drum less tracks... just in case ;-)
Easily one of the best drum videos on RU-vid. I just wish they had listed what tom heads were used because they sound like muffled cardboard in this mix. :/
I would love to know how Anika describes her music style. I’m passed needing names, as music should be more progressive, as Anika Nilles absolutely is, but out of curiosity. I would probably call it “free funk fusion”, but I somehow want to add the word “trashy” I’m there, as the whole “trashy” sound element to her music is also focal. Any other offers?
Unbelievable playing!!! I can’t get over the angle on the cymbals though! Seems as if she would tear up a lot of sticks and risk breaking cymbals hitting them on the edge like that?
I'm a Sabian player, and after talking to my rep about breaking cymbals, he suggested trying the low mount, angle away setup, and I gotta say: after I got used to it, I really like it, and haven't cracked a cymbal since.
DrumJedi I started lowering my cymbals about 10 years ago. The best move I ever made. And I have to say, that since then, I too have not broken any cymbals. I don’t think it’s so much about the angle as it is a players technique?
@@drumfanatik316 I think it's a little bit of both. I've changed my technique as well in recent years. For me, the angle change wemt hand in hand with it.
Maybe not yet, I don’t know, but Anika is on track to become the greatest female drumming musician! She expresses such great power and musicality.... and the drums are not bad!
Eh.. for a kit demo a full mix is not going to do it for me :( Give us some isolated sound, preferably not too processed. Give us some "the kit with room mics". Let us experience the kit as if we where standing there. A good recording engineer can make a 100 dollar kit sound like 10.000 (will just take a lot of effort), it doesn't give a good impression.
I love Anika and think she’s amazing but her beats are ALWAYS the triples on the right hand on the cymbals. Always at some point in most of her songs. Not saying it’s the same exact beat cause the bass drum is usually different with the ghost notes but before I even clicked on this video I knew that was gonna happen at some point.
Anika you are a "Goddess" on the drums. Just watching you play inspires me to sit down at my kit. Aside from all of that, you are one very sexy drummer.
