Worth every penny, hands down. Such a small intimate factory when you think about the turn around and orders they pump out. TAMA is the best brand of drums period. What they do is art, and perfection. They earned their accolades by doing it right. I dont think anyone can top the industrial wood work of the Japanese either. If I ever get endorsed one day, I dream I can visit the factory to see my kit being built. Just awesome.
Yes the work they do there is amazing. Waiting for a MIJ Bubinga Elite Snare to arrive in next few days. It’s nice to see exactly where it was made and the care put into their craft.
Not at all like I was expecting. No ultra modern facilities, for them, just old fashioned techniques in a small factory setting, producing high quality, beautifully (an lovingly) made drums...
Todas as marcas querendo alcançar a perfeição mas qdo chega nas mãos do consumidor ele não sabe o que fazer com elas! Tambores quase perfeitos, mas desafinados!
I been playing drums over 40 years. 35 of the years I had drums my life was great. august 7th 2007 my house caught fire and I had a 9 pc, tama star classic maple in blue sparkle, I was so proud of having that set that my dad bought me in 2005, neither less my drum set was destroyed , i even had 14 paiste 2002 series cymbals. every now and then I get to go to either Sam ash or guitar Center and play for a couple minutes. I wish that I was rich the first thing I would do is go out and buy a drum set. I feel good inside when I'm playing, maybe one day I will be playing again full time just like my drumming brothers in this world. keep on drumming BROTHERS....
This has the look of some kind of spy video. Like it was filmed with a hidden camera. While the process for making the shells isn’t revolutionary, Tama earned the slogan “The Strongest Name In Drums” for a reason. Their techniques and care for the drums make them almost bulletproof on stage. There’s a reason many metal players use them.
My 80s superstars are built tough an sound warm an punchy at the same time i wouldnt take or trade these for nothing . And mic up they have awesome sound , though i did put 2 24" bass drums together .
I own a pdp maple concept and my baby Tama star classic maple my dream kit is going to be a bubinga star two bass drum four mounted two down toms wild deep sea bosse
And I love my pdp kit all kits are good these days if your a new drummer don't sweat these expensive kits if I didn't have the money I'd be perfectly happy with a Tama superstar kit
cuznred prehistoric? Tama makes some of the finest drums on the market today. Tama never got their woods from someplace else like Keller for DW and most true DW aficionados will tell u the Keller shells were better than what DW is putting out today .
I had a set of custom drums made with Keller shells AFTER DW started making their own shells. I compared them to they every DW drum in the shop. Mine just sounded better with same heads and tuning. The guys were playing the drums so much when they were finished they had to give me all new heads. I took it as a compliment.
Well I assume that putting too much pressure on the shell like DW does takes the warm tone from the wood. If you look at the shell presses from Tama or Sonor they seem to use less pressure and in my opinion they have a much warmer sound than DWs.
LMAO In a room with no mics DW sound like a cheaper kit. They look nice though I have an old collectors series in storage that I haven't played in years. I play my Hyperdrive bubinga kit.
I used to love Tama back in the 80s but how can anyone compete with the amazing quality & beauty of DW?pricey to be sure but so worth it. (Chuck R.777RnR)
Austin G. And what exactly do you know about PAR when it comes to manufacturing? Are pre WWII machines subpar because they don’t conform to your millennial idea of what’s aesthetically appealing? Would you even know the first thing on how to manufacture a world class quality drum shell? Probably not.....
