Tamale Showdown: Hormel vs Derby vs La Preferida canned tamales | Tamale Casserole 

We had Derby Tamales in a glass jar when I was a kid in the 70s and 80s. Everyone used the jars for drinking glasses.

Tamale casserole starts @9:24 Final thought and fun fact: I change the winning Tamale to La Preferida. I think if it had a little more sodium it would have tasted as good or better than Hormel. It also looked better over all. Derby is distributed by La Preferida! Note the pictures are identical. However the nutrition labels are indeed different.

Supposed to cook them in the paper..take it off before eating.

For canned tamales, Hormel are pretty good.

I think derby and la prefadia may be the same manufacturer under different labels look at the identical photo’s on the two cans

Happy Easter Xeta! That casserole looked so good. I tried something that added a nice flavor to a dish, I put a little Sazon in some sour cream. It tasted so good. Good tip about the sour cream. It works great for yogurt and other dairy too.

I get the Hormel. They don't come close to the real thing. However, when you have a craving in the middle of the night...

Living in Houston, we have Hormal and I like them better than the rest

Eating canned tamales at 10 am on Easter Sunday leads to sitting on the porcelain throne by 3 pm on Easter Sunday. You can test which brand of TP is better.👍
