Thank you so much for making this video Im a beginner and i want to ask what fabric you use?? Because when i tried to use tambour it keep stucking :(
@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery
@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery 2 года назад
That's about how you are using the needle rather than the fabric Aulia! Go back to the basics of taking the hook in and out and practice this part until you can go it without catching the fabric. Organza is good to learn on as you can see what you are doing underneath as well as on top

Thank you, thank you!! This is so wonderfully clear. It has inspired me to look again at trying this. A beautifully calm, clear and slow paced instruction. I particularly liked the o'clock descriptions of the hook movement, it really enhanced the pictoral presentation.

I've got a tambour embroidery kit coming in the mail so I can try it out. I have a question, where you're moving the needle up and down, I see a rather large hole getting tugged into the fabric. Does that fix itself normally, or do I need to use a thicker fabric?
@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery
@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery Год назад
Your hook should come with some different needle sizes Jean. Do some sampling to work out the best size for the thread you are using.

Do lefthanders reverse the clockwise, anti-clockwise directions?
@carolinehomfray1830
@carolinehomfray1830 6 лет назад
Yes Natalie, that's right. going away will be clockwise, coming towards you will be anticlockwise. Always turn the hook in the radius outside your hand, not into the palm of it, and that should help knowing which way to turn and wrap.

I've tried over 12 times so far.. Anyone else finding this impossible?
@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery
@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery 4 года назад
There can be alot going on at once when you start this technique Laura, so I suggest breaking it down into smaller chunks and start by just practicing the hook movement without the thread. Practice taking it in and out of the fabric without catching the hook until you have got the hang of this then you won't need to think about this part and can concentrate on the next thing...

Hola Rosy.

The volume levels are pretty high on this video Elaine so just check the volume levels on RU-vid are up to max (as well as the device you are watching it on); the volume control is in the bottom left hand corner of the video. You can also turn on subtitles by clicking on the little settings cog in the bottom right of the video screen

How do you stop the hook from snagging the warp and weft of the fabric as you pull it through? I have just nearly thrown my work across the table because it’s frustrating me so much.
@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery
@SarahHomfrayEmbroidery 2 года назад
Make sure you press the shaft of the hook against the back of the hole Lucy so the hook part doesn't catch. Just practice this movement without any thread until it's smooth👍
