It's a highly underrated song for sure but to say it's MJ's best song is a bit of a stretch. Don't get me wrong, it's legit but I don't know that it will stand the test of time like Billy Jean, Thriller, Smooth Criminal, Bad, Beat it and many others. It's def good though.
This probably would be one of those rare occasions where MJ would actually like a cover version of one of his songs. This has a sick beat which he would have loved. It just goes to show how great this song truly is. I still consider it his best song.
I'm a huge Michael Jackson fan and I love this!!! I LOVE both this and the original. This one is has more hipster-ish taste. So i can see how some people in comments like this one better. But don't compare Michael Jackson to other artists because he is the King of Pop eternally.
This is actually amazing. People who tend to do covers of MJ's songs never turn out right. This style on this song puts a new light on the song and it gives a different feel. I love it!
this cover is great because Kevin was not trying to outdo MJ, or do a carbon copy of this song. He just did it with enough unpretentiousness, originality, sincerity, and respect. Well done!
This is the first time I've listened to this band. I usually dislike MJ covers because they're so poorly done but this one is different. The vocals really suit the style of the song & the music is poignant & haunting. What great work, a true tribute to the original artist with Tame Impala's own groove stamped on it. So that's a big thumbs up from a hard to please MJ fan. I'd go as far as to say it's now my favourite MJ cover :)
Ikr. My fav mj cover as well. Heehiiiyee .. aouun! Na seriously though I love him.he was a hero. Up there who touched us, influenced us, Ali, Diana, Luther king, in the previous century. I found tame Impala, and after a year I found this cover. I was blown away this existed
Holyy shitt!! What a coincidence! I was all into a michael jackson phase listening to his old stuff and one of my favorite-the best bands tame impala does a cover 0: I was even listening to stranger in moscow non stop
When you mix two genius like Michael and Kevin you got this an awesome song and feeling, please stop analyzing and critics and just have fun listening to this masterpiece.
We shouldn't always feel the need to compare covers and originals. The original is great, the cover is great. Both artists did an amazing job at making this song their own. I love MJ and think Stranger is one of his very best songs - and I really dig this version as well!
I was wandering in the rain (Mask of life, feelin' insane) Swift and sudden fall from grace (Sunny days seem far away) Kremlin's shadow belittlin' me (Stalin's tomb won't let me be) On and on and on it came How does it feel? (How does it feel?) How does it feel? How does it feel? How does it feel? How does it feel? (How does it feel?) How does it feel? How does it feel When you're alone And you're cold inside? Here abandoned in my fame (Armageddon of the brain) KGB was doggin' me (Take my name and just let me be) Then a begger boy called my name (Happy days will drown the pain) On and on and on it came How does it feel? (How does it feel?) How does it feel? How does it feel? How does it feel? How does it feel? How does it feel? How does it feel? Like a stranger in Moscow Like a stranger in Moscow Like a stranger in Moscow How does it feel? (How does it feel?) How does it feel? How does it feel? How does it feel?
@@fernandovilhena9710 is right. its kevin parker the person who makes all tame impala songs by himself. the original poster must be confused by the live band who plays the songs live so they can be played live
I'm happy just knowing this exists, one of my fav MJ songs done by oneof my fav bands... just miss the ending ("We're talkin danger!") but this is chill af and so dreamy, I get why he cut it out
Man, I can't even recall something better than this among thousands of MJ covers. And I also appreciate the choice of song. Not just something like Billie Jean or Thriller, but a true hidden gem.
I know these kind of comments are kind of old-school but I've hit the replay button so hard. Such a great interpretation of an original idea. Without either MJ or TI this couldn't have been possible.
How unexpected and delightful. One of my favourite songs from my favourite singer covered by my favourite band. And covered really well. The soul of the sound is pure. Can’t believe this song wasn’t on my radar til today! Would love to hear more MJ covers from Tame Impala... maybe something like Human Nature? Or Heartbreak Hotel by The Jacksons.
can we just talk about the fact that a relatively obscure musician from Australia woke up one day and decided "yeah orite i'm gonna cover Michael Jackson today" and absolutely fucken nailed it?
As an MJ fan, it really feels wrong to read people saying this version is better than the original. But who am I to judge. In my opinion, MJ's version is tremendously unique because of the smoothness of the backgound voices, the subtle guitar sound, the beats which are taken straight out of Michael's beatboxing and enhanced, and overall how it makes you feel when you listen to it on a rainy day. To me, it's pure magic. Anyway, this version is pretty cool.
I agree! This version is nice, but it made me miss Michael's beatboxing and the acoustic guitar and clean instrumental of the original. I think this version takes away from the original's somberness and greyness and the overall feel that Michael intended.
