I think ppl are missing what Jeannie is saying. First and foremost, Tamera was acting up for no damn reason. All she had to do was listen. Jeannie is saying that the FACT that people have to defend that the puppets aren’t gay is wrong. She’s saying kids should be able to understand different types of relationships regardless of how they interpret them. It’s not sexual. To deprive them to witness different relationships is only placing your own ignorance upon them.

Tamera made sense this time around. Folks need to stop making things bigger than what they are. When I used to watch Sesame Street I promise I DID NOT CARE or even looked at them like they were gay, I actually thought they were cousins or something of that nature. The thing that pisses me off is why must we go to “genitalia” and sex when we talk about same sex love. If two opposite sex characters liked each other we’d simply pass it off as a cute crush but god forbid we show another type of love. There's definitely something brewing in the background... this season, they're cutting and disrespecting each other every chance they get. I believe Jeannie was trying to say that she knew they were gay as a child and that sometimes children really do understand further than what adults believe they understand. I remember as a child when Teletubbies came on, everyone said the purple one was gay. I believe a child who is not exposed won’t really understand but children who have had exposure to or the concepts of being gay fully understands everything in media. I was a child that understood subliminals in media because my mom‘s best friend was a gay male. So when certain mannerisms were displayed I knew but didn’t let it be known that I understood.

Every one is tripping. Jeanie is right. The point is not to "teach" about sexuality, it's to expose it. Tamara kids are seeing that mommy and daddy go together. Kids are highly observant and they hold on to little rules thry make about the world. So if mommy snd daddy go together they will autonatically get confused if there are two daddies or two mommies. UNLESS they are shown that it's ok and normal. It's legit the same as showing all kinds of races on tv. Kids aren't thinking about racism but if all they see are smart white kids and a few stereotypical blackpeople on tv then it will become a problem later

I think Jeannie is too much sometimes. Did you hear how she was able to analyze, break down and explain her thoughts? Well, a 3 or 5 year old does NOT think like a 30 something year old woman! I grew up at watching Sesame Street as well. I was NOT wondering if Bert and Ernie were gay! I loved Sesame Street and even as an adult today appreciate this show. But come one Jeannie! Children do not have the thinking capacity at the ages of the children watching Sesame Street to wonder if Bernie and Ernie are in love or sleeping together! Jeannie tries to hard to act a certain way - the Asian girl who is open to everything and everyone. Sometimes the way she speaks and behaves it looks like she is going out of her way to act like she is black, to be quite blunt. Speaking of race, you don't have to "act" like someone else to appear cool. Black people are cool, so are white and Asian and South Asian and every other kind God made. As Tamera said, "Why can't we just be people sometimes? You don't have to put a label on everything." I have watched this show enough times to say, Jeannie is too much sometimes. She goes out of her way to be "Different" in the hopes of standing out, I think!
