Best Aluminium Hop-Up Upgrade shocks option for the Tamiya DT-02 and Tamiya DT-03? Well, Yes ... the Tamiya ones are by far the best quality and actually work! But can we fix the 3Racing Hop-Up Shocks ... so they actually feel like a Hop-Up???
Thank you for watching!

Yes, still fiddling around with these 3Racing Shocks! Last year we tested them stock - this winter I finally had some time to try to fix them and make them work! I'm actually quite pleased how they work now!
Even though they work now, I still do not recommend the 3racing shocks over the Tamiya ones. Yes, they are cheaper, but you need to source out and replace a lot of parts to make them work.
Well, if you can find some spring sets in the right diameter you actually only need to replace the o-rings, the springs and oil.
Compared to my set-up here, you can actually go a little bit softer if you want. Especially in the front. But it all depends on your own personal preferences, type of running and the type of surface.

Man, the black springs would be something I would run on one of my heavy crawlers, not a lightweight buggy! Glad you could get them to work well!

Hiya Mikael. I think we have discussed this before but it's annoying when you get shocks where the springs are way too firm for these light buggies. Great to see that you managed to get those Tamiya springs to make the 3Racing ones usable. Does your wife know how many hours you spend in your hobby room rolling RC cars over your hand? I hope not or she may worry! Best wishes matey 🙂

Hejsa Pete! Yeah, finally I found a good set up with these springs. They actually feel really nice now. And hopefully won’t leak too, with the softer Tamiya o-rings. Uhhh … I think she believes I’m actually building cars when I’m in the hobby room. Little does she know that I mainly just sit and play with them on the table 😂😅😀

@@NordicRC what does rolling the buggy over the hand show please I’ve seen it done but not sure what their doing Should it glide over the hand like falling water and not bounce over it like the tyres are square and not round These videos of yours G are so great I hope you really do know that Sometimes words aren’t needed 😉✅💯 Thanks for the time you take I know it was not 5 minutes to make this1☺️💯😎😎

It is good test, because it is repeatable and shows difference between setups. You can adjust suspension on track, but that kind of test is good starting point.

I would have thought they would have put in softer springs by now but they keep getting it wrong. Then with the hard springs super thin oil just makes things worse. The right spring and oil perfect.

Yeah, it even says version 2 on the box. If this is version 2 I dare not imagine how useless version 1 was 😅😅😅

And yes: hard springs with super-thin-oil ! A mystery how a professional brand can come up with that. I bet they haven’t given it one thought. Just randomly coupled springs and oil and dampers.

Very good,show us some good upgrades for the TT-02 B chassis,the dual ridge if possible.It’s inside chassis mounted motor makes it a good cheap 4wD competitor to more expensive models but it has hip up potential.Do you agree?Its also a beautiful buggy too when painted in its chrome intended look.I love this car,you should too,love your videos❤️👍🏻👍🏻🫡🫵🏻

Hi Robert! I think the TT-02B has a lot of potential, but in pro races it will be no match to the more expensive pro race buggies _ even with upgrades. But getting an entry-level and upgrading is a fun project in itself. Especially if it has that Tamiya-Aura ☺️ Got a complete series with hop-ups for the TT-02B Dual Ridge in the channel. Just search for it.

Ahhh, that's better! Seems like 3Racing got their sums wrong when working out the spring tensions - or they didn't bother at all! Good to see that they can be made to work, but as you say, might as well go straight for the Tamiya shocks! Nicely presented as always my friend! Cheers! (❁´◡`❁)

Cheers, Mark! Yeah, better start out with Tamiya shocks! CVA or hop-ups. All good from the start and so many tuning options that fit and great quality, instead of trying to fix something that do not work. But since I had these I better make something good out of them ☺️ Thank you so much for watching and commenting my friend.

3-Racing Shock is too hard to dial.
@peteuncle2935
@peteuncle2935 Год назад
Why? You have a damper unit and a removable spring? It's about matching the parts you need for the weight of your buggy. He just proved it can be done fairly easily.

Hi Pete. I have to agree with both of you: Considering the fact that these shocks are sold as low-budget upgrades for a low-budget entry-level buggy, it simply is not ok that they do not work stock. And if one has to purchase new springs in the right diameter, purchase o-rings, purchase oil, then the cost (and time) simply isn’t worth it. And imagine beginners getting these shocks from the start, thinking they will improve their car but the opposite is more likely. Better spend the money on Tamiya hop-ups (or stick with the stock ones) that work with the stock set-up. But if you have spares, that just sit around un-used, then one can actually make them work with little effort.
@NordicRC
@NordicRC Год назад
Yeah, if one has to purchase it all (springs, I-rings, oil) then they end up costing the same as Tamiya ones ☺️

Thanks for your response.I forgot to ask you or anyone if you had any advice for me.I bought a couple of grasshoppers and modified one,I fully ball raced it and settled for an old techno gold 540 motor and the 18 toothed pinion as suggested in the instruction manual.It’s very fast for a grasshopper but much slower in reverse,which I suppose isn’t a bad thing but I’ve done the same thing in the past and it didn’t happen on my earlier 90’s edition.I don’t want to run it incase it’s ruining the gearbox.Does anybody know why it’s doing this?is it a feature of the new style ESP or do you think there’s something wrong.I want to sort it because I’m going to give it to a young boy that lives near me,he’s seen me playing with other rc cars on my street and loves them but his family is poor so I want to give it to him with everything else he needs to start the hobby.Any advice would help,who knows,Lewis Hamilton started off racing rc cars.He could be the next champ,thanks🫡🫵🏻👍🏻

@@RobertSmith-op9mb a quick look up says the 105 if that makes sense to you as a tamiya user does indeed have a reverse limiter and you’d or others would then go to the 101bk for 100% throttle both ways forwards and reverse IF that is any help Robert I only got in rc about 4 years ago and went straight into 6s after a bad experience with DHK monster truck
