Got this kit mixed up with the Avanti Black edition until you mentioned it. Never thought of painting the bottom tray to show the carbon. Nice build and clear vedio shoot.
Awesome Review Adam as Always mate and yes you have pointed out some important and very handy tips throughout the video ,and yes it has copped a bit as you saw on my FB post some people didn't approve, but for the most part people where just glad to have another opportunity at a beautiful kit done in a different color scheme and i definitely will also be building and running mine with the second kit to be a display piece along side other Blister pack Gems By Tamiya , cheers Mate :-)
It looks great. I agree, it has grown on me as well but it's just a shame it doesn't have a special motor like the rere BW or Avante 2011 did, especially for the premium price point. The Egress Black is still not in the UK as of the 26th Nov 22, but I have been told we should get them 30 Nov - 02 Dec 22. This one is really for the Tamiya hardcore vintage fans who have deep pockets and the Tamiya box collectors. To me, it just feels like it could have been so much more desirable for a little more effort by Tamiya. A few unique hop-up upgrades and the kit motor would have pushed it over the edge.
Thanks Gavin, I agree it needed a little to make it special and to justify the price. I did get this cheaper than the regular egress was in stores so I can’t complain. Given a regular egress is $1200+ I was happy to pay in the $600’s for this one 😎
Hey mate, great video as usual 😊 was surprised you didnt mention the windows not being blue like the box art, looks better with out the blue! Was thinking of doing a very light smoking as think that would look pretty sweet also.
My first car was the Falcon and I upgraded my collection with a Hotshot then the Lunchbox... Im surprised you dont have the hotshot in your collection.. It was a very popular car back in the old days. Im thinking of getting back to RC and was thinking of getting either the Egress or the Top force Evo... Which do you recommend and any reason why you were not interested in the hotshot?
I think it looks great! It was just too much money for me to get excited about it. I have still yet to get most of the higher end buggies due to the prices of them and toss in the limited edition on top of that it just got to be more than I would be willing to spend on one. I agree that not including a decent motor was a fail on their part.
Love your videos! You should release another video of your collection. Some gems in there (love your Genova and Cougar!). I agree with you that the new Egress may even look better than the old. However, I am outraged about the price and lack of care for fans, particularly when you compare with competitors such as the Kyosho Optima Mid which is has been updated (transmission etc...) and which offers way more aftermarket parts and potential (Long wheel base conversion for instance). Imagine, just imagine if Tamiya had treated its customers to a brand new brushless version of the Technigold (like Kyosho did with the Le Mans series) and included a special version (Egress black edition sticker) in the kit? Then Tamiya could have justified the price and promoted a new motor at the same time! ;-) One can only dream. Tamiya, I hope you're reading this!
I completely agree. The main reason I got this kit is because I wanted an egress, but wasn’t paying eBay prices for a re re of the original as they are at more than double the $$ as the black edition
I wasn't planning on getting one but a deal popped up that I couldn't pass so it's on the way. I never had an original Egress (or the 2013 re-re) and no way am I paying the prices either of those are being asked for. So I will have one now. Hopefully I can find an extra undertray cause i want to run it...and have a unsullied undertray for display purposes. Great review and all good points made. Especially for the price point Tamiya should have included a motor. How much would it be to put a GT or BZ in there?
The most aggressive Egress I've seen, I hope it still available in our Local Hobby shop, then get some Futaba radios & some Upgrades to be a Competition ready ones, just like Mechanic After Hours done to his rig
Looks great! And another immaculate build, I prefer the livery of this version over the original too though If I had one I think I'd be really tempted to paint it red instead. I think that could look mint with the blue and white stickers. It certainly does seem like Tamiya are being a bit extravagant with the pricing for this one though.
I held off pre ordering this one as i have the Black Special Avante that in my opinion is a better kit and comes with a special motor. But it looks great and it's more aimed at the nostalgic path and Tamiya collector i think. Another great Video Adam 👍
Thanks Jenny, I agree the Avante black is Definitely a nicer kit with the inclusion of the motor. But the Avante black is crazy $$ in Aus now. We didn’t get many of them
Just pick up mine this week and i was shocked with the price and has no motor..... It does indicate motor is required...so i decided either a 2.8lt Toyota diesel turbo or Nissan/Renault 2.3lt twin turbo...hahaha... No only joking.... I picked up a 540 RZ from Amazon arriving early December.... Just can't wait to hit in 8.4v and do 320km in my street....
Hello my brother amazing review. I was watching this and the one I bought but mine has the pink rims how do you have the silver ones it is from other egress model? Thank you
Nice video Adam, I’ve been unsure weather to get this on or not and now I’ve seen yours built it looks a lot better than in sone of the promotional material , i definitely agree about the motor , it should of had a nice one included with the kit. Still not sure on those wheels though ;) anyway tit for tat . Lovely build and tips :)
Awesome car, awesome looks. Definitely a Tamiya Legend! Does it deserve a different appellation (never mind a different price) for a couple of parts anodized in a different colour and different stickers? Absolutely not (in mho)!
Nice looking buggy. I'm looking foward to see you drive it! It's very expensive, and will probably be sold out by the time I get around to trying to get one.
It's nice but imo it's no Avante Black Special and the price point a little disappointing that being said will probably still got one 😕 Great video Adam!
Hi Adam. Great video and tips too. I agree with you, it's a great looking kit and the colour scheme looks great but it's far too costly. Nice touch on the underside just spraying the outer edges. I like that. You've done a great job. Awful decision not to include a motor! ATB Darren. 👍
Yep as Ive said b4, the price point has ruined the kit for me. As you said, it should of had a signature motor with it, and some other commemorative bits and pieces to make it really worth the money. Will you be doing a running video?
Yes an expensive kit, but cheaper than the $1200+ that people are paying for the 2013 Egress re re. That being said I don’t see the value in a lot of RC kits on the market currently, even the Kyosho legendary series are expensive for what they are also.
Adam, be careful with your steering steering servo. I burned out several of these Amazon servos and so has a friend too. We stalled these servos for a few seconds to set to end points on our radios and they burned out. We burned out 3 of these servos. I used cheap Futaba servos and stalled them out to set-up our end points and had no problems. Thoughts?
I’ve used these servos for over a year now on many builds, never had a problem and I think they are great value for money. I was going to put in a Savox but went with the SPT as it was blue to match in with the car.
@@RCACTIONAUSTRALIA Hi Adam, maybe we just got a bad Batch of these servos? I have bought other cheap Amazon servos and been happy with them. I do like Savox servos but they are loud and are power hungry. I have had problems with Savox servos and Spektrum radio gear. I do think that Spektrum radios has got better. Thoughts?
Yes! But I did get it discounted. I was always chasing an Egress but with ppl asking $1200 for the regular I was happy to pay half that for the new black edition
