Tamiya LunchBox, Part 2 The Shell... 

Bit of Tamiya X-8/11/18 paint for the indicators, door handles and rear number paint maybe Glenn? Brilliant though…. love the CW-01 in all it’s guises….. When I’m doing stuff now, I’ve even started to say “might do”, “maaaybe” …. and “we’ll have to see” all the time :)…. Burgers, Dogs, Soft Drinks and Munchies and then WHEELIES all day, every day…. ROCK & ROLL!

Color turned out perfect. I had an original back when it came out and the body shell was molded in yellow, same as the wheels.

The box is so much fun to build looks great👍👍💣💣

I see you got your paint from Great hobbies? My favourite shop. Just ordered my lunchbox from there. Your videos have me antsy for it to arrive.

I always thought it would be cool to paint this one in its original pre-production paint scheme (which never took off). I have an MRC catalog from 1987. In that catalog, Tamiya painted above the "lighting bolt" decal TS-16 yellow, and below the decal TS-41 coral blue. Have you ever seen this? I've never seen anyone attempt this!

Like you, I take my time painting these lovely bodies. First run and they get all scratched up lol. I'd rather drive a car with a scratched up body than not drive a pristine shelf queen. ;) Great job Glenn.

I finally got my lunchbox! I have the chassis all built up with bearings and a torque tuned motor. Just got the paint in the mail today. I’m hoping there’s nothing special to do before I paint it. Hoping that there are some tips and tricks in this video.

It's hard to see a real difference on video, are you still firm on the TS-47 as the 'original colour' as opposed to the TS-16? It took me only thirty years to pull the trigger on it but mine is coming this weekend. I also ordered all the recommended paints from the manual, including the TS-16. I don't want to get it wrong.. Hey Mr. Tamiya nerd FYI the bottom decal on the original was Signal Hill, the only Two differences was the phone number and the racing sponsors. Just helping ya stay correct.

Never knew they used a different yellow, but being red/green colour blind would never notice. Then what colour do Tamiya use on the XB Lunchbox.

Didn't paint the door handles or side running lights... or around the moon roof...

What masking tape did you use. I've tried free hand on my lunch box and ended up a mess
