I ran my Manta a few times at OCRC in Huntington and even though it doesn’t run like the modern TLR’s and Associated cars, they don’t get the looks that The Manta does. And , it never breaks.
Pro Manta Ray, as it was my first 4WD back in the 90s. I have it still sitting in a box in the basement. Must go see the Manta as great memories are linked to it. Thanks for remembering me of it.👍
Love the manta ray. Me and my lad have a shelter never been driven like yours. It was one of his first and we sold it to buy something else so now we have a mint one back in the collection, built from new parts
The Manta Ray is a perfect example of the character cars that made Tamiya be iconic. It has personality that screens Manga Comic. Thanks for the vids, they always have the excitement that I hold for the kits themselves. Stella, the Coors Light of Canada? Good choice.
You nailed it! The Tamiya character cars got us all hooked as kids and the longevity of their designs keeps us hooked today. And yeah, always good to have a brew or two while filming and wrenching! 😁 🍺
Planning to build a DF01 chassi. Manta is a bit to extreeme with the extra side wings and "air intake". I prefer the Dirth Thrasher body. More sleeker look but still has that cockpit spaceship thing going. Good video. :)
Great to see you so passionate about this buggy, hey even 'in love' with it. :-) I like the way you are doing your own thing and being honest and upfront and not just going with the cliche cars but liking something others may not hold in high regard. Good stuff.
Thanks for the great comment Mark! I love having this channel for the very reason you just mentioned, I can provide content and reviews on the kits I love and others may not cover. Appreciate the support, my friend! Have a great weekend! 🤙
I know this is an old video but I've just built the 2024 re re. Absolutely love this car. You get a fair bit for your money and with a couple for cheap upgrades it's a solid chassis.
@@poorboysrc yeah did that as the motor mount is cheese. Also did the prop Shaft.. Got rid of the metal gear parts for the extra speed plastic ones. Also did the front ujs. Also added the Topforce undertay 👍
@@markgreenhalgh8344 oh sweet! Great mods! If you haven't yet, check out my Top Force in Action video. I dropped it a couple weeks ago, I think you'll like it!
Always liked the mantaray. It was also the first of the series, so all the Ta01, Ta02 etc are spawned from the mantaray. I guess poeples dislike of it, is mostly stems from it being quite expensive for an entrylevel kit, and you can get all manner of associated buggy knockoffs etc for a lot cheaper, that perform a lot better. So from the perspective of someone who doesn't care for Tamiya, its just an expensive, old design buggy.
I think that's the story for most Tamiya kits these days: Cost is high and performance is low. Still can't best these character cars in my opinion though! 👊
I absolutely love the Manta Ray!! I have a Super Manta Ray, a Heavily modded Original chassis Manta Ray and a Manta Ray that's basically a Top Force Evo..Plus I'm gathering parts to build a Truggy/ Stadium truck based on the Manta Ray...lol Looking forward to seeing your running video hopefully soon :)
I'm hoping to get it out this summer, so many projects on the go it's getting tough to prioritize! Your Manta Ray/TF Evo has my curiosity piqued, that sounds like a wicked build!
@@poorboysrc Thank you, It's a Nick Walker Carbon chassis kit, a few Red anodized aluminum parts from Bora at RC Customs, some more red aluminum bits from Jazrider and Red TA-01 gearboxes, It also has DSRCC Delrin a-arms. As well as complete Fast Eddy ball bearings, Full titanium screw kit, Egress wheels and tires with lettering painted with red aluminum wheel nuts. I'm in the process of taping up a TBG Terra Conquer/ Blazing Star body ,Top Force under tray, and DB-01 wing for it. It runs a Surpass brushless combo 4370kv/60amp, with a 25kg servo. I'm using a Flysky GT3C Transmitter and it has Xtra Speed shocks on it as well... 🙂
Turned my Manta Ray rere into a Terra Conquer tribute with ball diffs and steel prop with a 23 turn brushes motor, it’s durable , fast and fun to drive . Bought a original Manta Ray and restored it for the shelf. Because you have to have a Manta Ray in your collection 😂.
Tamiya did actually rere them and there's still stock at Tower Hobbies! @@poorboysrc yeah but there are some slight differences. I just love the look of them and miss mine from 20 years ago. I was hoping they would re release it as I would run it.
I'd say I just started collecting about 3-4 years ago. I always had a few Tamiya's to drive and I kept a crawler and a basher around. Just recently (perhaps something to do with turning 40) I've been feeling nostalgic and decided to bring back the good old days by immersing myself in all things Tamiya! 😀
@@poorboysrc that is awesome buddy keep on collecting. Im in search for the Tamiya Wild One. I'll send you the Blackfoot Xtreme soon to add to the collection lol 😁🤙🤙
@@JeepsCafe have you heard about the new Wild One that's coming out? Blockhead motors edition! No pics available yet, but keep your eyes peeled! And ya dude, can't wait to see the BF Xtreme and revive her! Have you got your shirt yet?
I wish I had it it was going for less or well less than 200 US where was out. But right now my theme is to buy all the two-wheel drive Tommy is before I get a four-wheel drive but I wouldn't make it an exception for the super hot shot cuz I used to have it when it was called the super shot back in the day and I used to own that car and I would want it again.
Not a fan of it but don’t hate it either. Just don’t like the side view of the body. Could change my mind with a running beach video. But everyone has the style that appeals to them.
