Cheers mate..... they do look kinda cool together, well, what you can actually see of them..... kinda dark in this one! I tried to work with the dark vibe - Dark music, lightening bolts etc.... With the wet tarmac it does represent the UK winter we have had quite well I think? 🤔 But, it was great fun, especially as they were so closely matched on both power and handling! Great to see the old 959's still got it!!! Delta looks great too... Ahh the dark shopping centre car park...we've all been there lol. At night under lights it's the perfect spot.
Cheers fella! Yep, unfortunately in the depths of the winter a flood lit carpark is about the only opportunity we have to do any running. It's still enjoyable, but certainly not ideal for making videos as the footage never turns out great. But the trusty 959 held it's own against the Lancia Delta XVO1 chassis! Hi Dirk. Cheers for stopping by mate. 😊 Yes indeed, very right..... I was actually really Suprised that the XVO1 couldn't get passed the OAP 959! I think the speeds were about equal, but the 959 was more agile, and well planted..... despite running on slicks (the XVO1 had rally blocks on) It was a most enjoyable session my friend! 👍 👍 👍
The first yoda darkside production for Green Hawks RC! Taylor usually does all of the GH editing, but this was my first attempt at hashing something together! So..... didn't the 36 year old 959 perform well against the highly acclaimed XVO1 chassis? Infact, it actually seemed slightly more planted and agile on that wet tarmac. As you can see from the footage, there really wasn't much between them...... But, I think off road the XVO1 would absolutely destroy the 959! Maybe that's one for another video? 🤔 👍 👍 👍

Just a little night time tarmac blast with the rally cars, and yes, great fun indeed! Just in the process of project tube box currently, chassis is built and now on the painting. A good dry down and clean up is always due after to stop things rusting/seizing up! Both great cars, both couldn't be more different in design, but both performed very much on level with each other. Cheers Mark..... means a lot mate! 🙏 😊 Yes, weren't they both surprisingly equal in both speed and handling? The 959 chassis gets a lot of hate, but I personally believe it to be one of the best Tamiya have ever put out (other than it's durability issues) It's a delight to drive, the suspension makes it really handle like a real Porshe! Even running on slicks in the wet, it was still slightly more agile than the XVO1! As for the 'old dog new tricks' statement- I do struggle with tech, I've never even owned a computer or laptop! But it was fun having a go at the other side of things. Our Green Hawks agreement is- I come up with the video ideas, repair the cars, and answer the comments. Taylor usually does all the editing and uploading, and cooks the food! It works well usually! Thanks for your continued support of the channel matey. 😊 👍 👍 👍

I should have fired up the lights on the 959, only problem is that they are the old stock eighties bulbs that came with the kit back in the day..... and they really drain the battery fast, especially as that car won't fit anything other than a NMH. 👍 👍 👍

I rehashed the best bits and done a new edit to put up on the main channel. It's been virtually impossible to get out and get any running footage for months now due to the never ending rain. ☔ I actually almost bought an rc boat the other day, I kid you not, that's how bad it's been over here in the grim UK. Hey Addam! You make it sound like I always crash!!! 😂 Well there was one or two fender benders which resulted in some scratched and dented lexan..... but in all honesty it adds to the character of these rally cars.... Scale battle scars just like the real thing! (although I would NEVER run my mint 959 in this manner, that stays firmly on the shelf! I did have a rear hub disintegrate though..... been looking for 2 months now for a replacement. But, I have found some aluminium reproduction ones in the USA..... Just need to save the bucks up first because they are a tad pricey when you include postage, handling and import taxes. It's all very nice building and restoring shelf queens, but sometimes you need to just get out there and let them rip! Cheers for stopping by matey. 😊 👍 👍 👍

That's why I have two sides to my fleet-- ones to run, and others as shelfers. We were trying to be extra careful that night though, one direct hit to that 959 could potentially cost hundreds in replacement parts! 😬 All good fun though fella. 👍 👍 👍

I wasn't standing in a very good spot there was I? 🤔 It gets very hard to see those Kerbs at the far end when it's so dark, we could ideally do with building a raised rostrum in the car park..... ooof a wet track! I might have just bought an XV01, as I have only heard good things about them, and I need a Rally Car to pitch against the Subaru on the TT01E the Chief Engineer has. Do you find that people wonder what you are up to in that in that dark corner of the car park? Every little helps I believe
"Every little helps'!! 😂 🤣 To be honest people generally leave us alone up there mate.... although we do get some funny looks when people see the camera on the tripod! But, I'm old enough now to not really bother want people think of us.... we're just having a bit of fun with big boys toys! 😂 As for the XVO1 - Highly recommended fella, it's a superb chassis. 👌 The front mounted motor makes it so well balanced, and it handles like a real rally car..... the rear end flicks out with great control and always steps back in. Oh yes matey..... Those bodies are hot, hot, hot!! 😂 Bloody hurts when you plough them into Kurbs, or put them on their roofs though after all that time and effort into building them! But man they look sweet blasting around on the tarmac. As for the wet car park- No mate, this country is the pits right now.....
