Welcome to Green Hawks RC! A channel started by a keen enthusiast of radio controlled planes , drones and helicopters(Taylor and his wife Kat aka Moo Moo), and his rc car mad friend and neighbour (yodadarkside or James!) who is particularly focused on the nostalgia side of the hobby after growing up in the 80s golden era, and has recently picked the hobby back up. We aim to document and share with you a light hearted insight into this wonderful hobby that we all enjoy so much. We will be taking a trip through the history, restorations, tips and advice, new builds,friendly races and competitions, running videos and much more! @@RCMadUK Sorry mate,Taylor didn't answer your question in his reply there.....🤷♀️ The rules are pretty basic really: You simply have to just do 8 Laps as fast as you can! The choice of car/motor/battery is totally up to the driver,no restrictions. (the fastest cars don't necessarily do better we have often found,grip is the key!) If you ever fancy coming down for a go at getting some times on the board then give me a shout fella,you're more than welcome! We usually do the time trials over the Autumn /winter months as the car park is floodlit,it gives us a means of still getting out /making content when it's dark by 4pm! 😁 👍 👍 👍

Mine tends to take off to the moon thx to the front mud guart/wings + brushless motor even on 2s XD carfull for front shock mount, seems to brake easely when going above stock speeds

I could well believe that fella,not the best of body shell designs for a speed runner,that whole front end is one big air scoop!🤣 I bet it absolutely shifts with brushless though,if you are able to keep it down!! One of the reasons why we are sticking with brushed motors this time around. Thanks for the warning regarding the shock mount,we have also heard the rear body posts are prone to breaking easily. Looks great guys 👌 My Holiday Buggy is definitely one of my favorite runners after I put the 540 motor in it. Mr Hankie definitely beats my Burt Reynolds/Bandit driver... 😂💩

Ha top entertainment from you guys. I think we all need to include Mark Bryan on a screen in every video 🤣 I was thinking it was a shame you hadn't put many details on the shell and then you produced your lovely shelfer. I'm afraid your speed shell isn't the first Holiday Buggy cabriolet because when I was young I smashed the roof off mine by rolling it and then found a parts tree that was the right size to be a windscreen which I made to be spring loaded so it didn't break in roll overs. I didn't have a poo driving it though so you might be the first to do that 🤔 Great stuff chaps and I look forward to seeing if you can beat Mr. McBryan 😁
Hello Pete! Now there's an idea.....imagine how funny that would be if everyone put Mark up on a screen in the background of all of their videos? Especially if Mark wasn't in on the plan!! 😁 Yeah fella,I was so pleased with how the box art body turned out that I couldn't possibly speed run it.... hence the minimalist one I made up to sacrifice instead! And let's face it,it's guna end up upside down at some point isn't it?😁 Love your story regarding your parts tree crash resistant windscreen from back in the day mate.....I can picture it now! 😁 Times were hard back then and we had to make do,which led to much creative thinking! I can remember using a used parts tree to make up a steering wheel and a bumper back in the eighties..... Just cut it to size, heated it up with a lighter, and bent it to shape!! 😁 Those were the days eh? The end almost made me spit out my breakfast! LOL!I planned on working on mine last weekend but the RC10T showed up and kicked that to the side! I will be getting mine revved up soon and out for a rip to see what speeds it can hit!

Spraying the roof in royal blue,painting the window frames,driver, cabin,Jerry cans,spot lights etc. And then cutting out all of those pesky stickers! Hey Mark, how are you mate? Oh yeah.....Pete also had you up on his monitor didn't he?! We needed an iconic channel that was in the speed run competition,and that everyone knew..... who better than Mark and Rob?! Although the intro was 'acted' that is pretty much what happened....we pulled an all nighter to build that thing!! 😁 Mr Hanky 💩 is fired up and ready to go, although Im pretty sure we won't be getting anywhere near your outstanding speed buddy! But,the competition between Taylor and I will be intense,I'm determined to beat him just as I did on the tto2 challenge last year!! Cheers for obviously watching all the way to the end fella,we found lots of funny footage when looking back at the recording! Maybe we should do a live build at some stage rather than a photo montage?! Won't be winning no BAFTA's that's for sure mate! All I can say is its a good job my kit building skills are better than my acting! 😁 Although not as creative as the chief engineers,the body shells turned out great. @@greenhawksrc6806 As I said mate, Win or Lose it's all about having fun... A little tip, drill a 2mm to 3mm hole in the Holiday Buggy's rear wheels as a vent, Then, if speeds are fast enough, the tires are now semi pneumatic and will "grow" giving you a taller ratio. I know you'll swap the tires, like most of us are doing, but the vent holes also help with tire uniformity (squeeze a stock tire on the rim, if like mine, the tire will keep a "dent" in it, the vent holes will stop that.. However, with the vent holes, the tires are more prone to flat spots if stored with weight on them...

Yeah their big,hard and heavy,fast and durable.....but I just find them so character less and bland! I'd rather rag the tits off a vintage Tamiya or kyosho..... at least they have soul and character, not to mention they actually look like proper vehicles to. But, each to their own mate.....it's all about the vintage stuff for me! 😁 👍 👍 👍

Although,the roof and spot lights looked very vulnerable......especially for a speed run! I reckon it might be a tad easier with a pistol grip tx. Pretty good effort really. I think more grip rather than power and closer lines to the markers would have been better. I have an old Tamiya 959 myself. I also run it, though it may be the ugliest one in existence. I really like the swearing too, it’s what happens when I drive RC’s.
Yeah fella.... A few people mentioned that about the transmitter, but unfortunately I can't stand pistol grips! Old habits die hard, I've stuck with stick controls as that's what I always used back in the day! And, definitely with a bit more grip and a closer line I may have been able to shave a bit of time off! Great to hear that you also own a 959......but there's no such thing as an 'ugly' one mate! Even the beaten up well loved ones still look good in my mind! 😂 All the dents and dings tell a story. I do also own an 'as new' 959 and Celica GRB, but these stay on the shelf! Actually this is a recent re release mate. But I do believe Tamiya stopped making it last year, although it can still be found on line or ebay new in box. It's a fun little car to drive that's for sure, very quirky! Cheers for stopping by matey. 😊 👍 👍 👍

Cheers Pete. Yeah, I was also quite suprised just how different the set ups were to be honest.... they really don't share much at all other than the space frame chassis. The king blackfoot is really superior in every way, other than the steering..... the original still trumps on that. Double wishbone...... Why of course it is!!!🙄 I had a proper brain fart there mate..... and we didn't have time to re film the intro as we were fast running out of light, so it stayed in! Cheers for the compliment on the driving mate..... that's a first! 😂 I'm used to Taylor and that cheeky Craig always slating it, even Dom joined in with them on this video!!! But, I'm well dialed in with my trusty Beetle..... it's my go to runner, and really does drive well. I've no idea how that body stayed on to be honest! I've lost track of how many times I've replaced those side body posts recently..... I need to make up something more substantial I think! 🤔 The king black foot is a great truck, but definitely doesn't have such sharp steering as the original ORV monsters! Hey buddy! Yes indeed Sir...... Ithe double wishbone suspension is so much better, as is the gearbox! It's also a lot faster than the original. But, the steering isn't quite a responsive...... the monster beetle steers like it's a buggy, and is so nimble and responsive despite the excessive slop it suffers with! I had full faith in my trusty beetle winning this one! 😂 I also think my mate Daz needs to work on his driving skills a bit! Cheers for watching Dirk. 😊 👍 👍 👍
Love the ORV chassis despite its faults and the Monster Beetle just screams fun:) The upgraded King BlackFoot looks cool too. It may have lost the race but I have a feeling it can take a lot more punishment than the Monster Beetle.
You know your stuff Sean. I have 6 ORV monster trucks in total, they are superb, but to run them properly they require quite a lot of time and money thrown at them! MIP ball diff is essential, shocks need upgrading (the re re stock cva's are really poor) the rear trailing arms travel needs limiting to stop them dropping drive shafts when fully compressed, a high torque servo saver helps with some of the steering slop, the rear chassis brace needs to be upgraded to metal, motor upgrade is essential to as these are slow and heavy rigs..... I've also found 2s lipo helps bring them to life a bit! I just now need to find, or make some upgraded body posts, as I'm snapping the side ones nearly every time I take it out!! 😬 But, I love driving this one, it always puts a smile on my face! Interesting to compare two different ORV platforms though, it's actually quite surprising just how many different cars came out on that ORV space frame chassis over the years! Just a bit of a laugh more than anything matey. Yeah we are entering Peter's speed run..... but haven't had time to even build the kit yet dude! @@UncleBobsRC Yep, we all get days like that mate! Sometimes nothing wants to go right eh? Motor videos are tricky to do, we done a full superstock rebuild and bearing replacement video..... Like you, I wasn't struck at first glance mate..... But the handling on this thing is a complete joy! It's low slung, well balanced, pretty quick, and steers very precisely..... Oh Dom..... That's a proper 'Craig' comment that is!!! Did he put you up to it? 😂 😅 🤣 He he, it was a bit squirely on that gravel, lost the rear end and side clouted the bollard!! The impact sheered the tip of the side body post off..... but Albert persevered until the end of the ten laps with the body flapping about to secure his victory! Just a bit of fun really, and both rigs provided plenty of that! 👍 👍 👍

You hit the nail on the head there mate. That's exactly what it's about for me, the nostalgia of collecting, building and running these things. As soon as I get out there with one of these it's like I'm my ten year old self again!! 😂 I also love how realistic the body shells are..... I'm just not feeling the looks of most of the modern trucks, so bland and generic in general. Although I know the modern stuff is substantially better all round in performance and durability! Hey Brad! Yeah man, the BZ is great in the old monster beetle..... It's about as quick as you want one of these old rigs to go. It's never guna be a rocket due to the gearing, and the fact it's so heavy! My RZ in my Turbo Optima is like shit off a shovel, as is my TZ in my TRF modified Top force, and my Top force Evo! And yes buddy, I've seen your kyosho and it's rapid!! 😂 👍 👍 👍
