There is absolutely no way I could bring myself to do all that masking. I would end up in the loony bin. But it was a real treat to see it done. Wonderful build. Extremely well done!
Excellent Viper! For future F-16 builds...the LEFs (leading edge flaps) do not "droop" like the flaperons and horizontal stabilators do when hydraulic pressure is depleted. When on the ground, the LEFs should be at the 2 degrees up position. I wish Tamiya provided a bit more info regarding proper flight control positioning in the instructions.
What a beautiful piece of artwork! Beautiful job with the intricate details and colors too! Bravo 🙌 and congratulations on your work on this project ! Keep up the amazing work man!
That sir was a great build, not my favourite scheme, but we all do what we like and that is tne good thing about this hobby, very best regards from Australia 👍👍👍👍
Simply gorgeous! Is this an older kit? Only reason I'm asking it that I am about finished with my 1st ever 1/32 aircraft from Tamiya (having done a few dozen of their kits in 1/48) and I had no fitment issues or seams and gaps to deal with. The precision of the 1/32 F4U-1A is off the charts good. Some parts fit so precisely and tightly that they almost snap into position on their own. Once or twice I had parts that would not fit because the mating surfaces had airbrushed paint on them, sheesh!
Thank you! It is a bit on the older side - but generally the overwhelming theme with Tamiya kits is whenever they have been produced they are gems!👌🏻☺️
The F-16 with over 4,000 built is used by all the air forces of the world all corners of the globe. I like this model F-16 CJ Viper demo team nice build nice work on jet. I have a wooden model F-16 & die cast model US Air Force. ❤😊🎉🤩☺️😁🤓😎
That's fantastic! I have been torn between the Tamiya F16 and F15E. Amazing paint job. I see Kinetic were due to bring out a Dream Viper but seems to have been cancelled 😪
Honestly I really am not 100% sure so I won’t tell you something which isn’t correct, fingers crossed someone else is a little more knowledgeable and lets us know😄
Incredible build! I wish I was this good. I was wondering if somewhere you had a list of paints you used for this kit? When I model I tend to use videos as guidance (I'm not that good to do it on my own). Thanks.
Well done! Looks awesome and totally unique. You have a gift for shades, contrasts and textures. One of the most beautiful fighter jet even penned by men. Derek is a happy pilot.
Brilliant work and excellent choice in paint scheme! IMO the only thing possibly missing is to do the panel lines with dark gray washes/panel liner, but that is just a personal preference. This is the first time I've seen your channel and subbed keep up the great work!
Thank you very much dude! I did actually ponder the decision to add a panel wash as that is something that I usually do, however, I didn’t want it to take away from the masking which I was spent so long doing! Thanks again :)
You aircraft terminology in the video was pretty on point. Only things that were off was the anti static dischargers and the stabilators. (Stabilator is the combined control where the elevator and horizontal stabiliser move as one unit common thing on modern fighter jets. Increases the surface area of the control surface while reducing drag and keeping the aircraft stable) Really cool video might have to look at making this kit myself.
Thank you so much for confirming! Need to probably do a little more research next time! I can’t recommend the kit enough it was such a joy (not the masking though🤣)
Well if there is a lot of paint in the way of parts i’ll just use either some sandpaper of my scalpel to gently scrape away the paint. If there’s only a little most the time the cement can eat it’s way through it because I only use acrylics which aren’t as strong as other alternatives! Hope that helped😁
Excellent build, just subbed as your previous work are models I have in my stash and are projects ill be building over the next year or so. Your a very talented builder.
Also, I'm sure your videos will inspire me to raise my game to the next level. I'm not sure about yourself or other builders but I always strive to make my next kit better than the last which can sometimes make it daunting to start the next one as we strive for perfection.. I've also learnt to research my builds very carefully as some kits are just terrible know matter the time effort and skill one has.
Sorry, just one other thing to say Luke, I've just read your profile"about", and was astounded to know you've only been modelling for a few year!!!! Wow.....serious respect.
thank you so much dude! I follow your philosophy of pushing myself on every build, whether that be a challenging scheme like in this video or using new techniques! I hope that the channel can provide a reference for builds and also some new techniques for you to try! Thanks again :)
Fantastic piece of work, looking forward to future builds. The rails don’t have a name as such and are usually just referred too as ejection seat guide rails from what I can tell.
You have it correct. They are called the ejection seat guide rails. The center "rod" is the ejection seat catapult rocket. It is responsible for launching the seat out of the aircraft. Underneath the seat is another rocket that keeps the seat straight. I worked F-16s for 15 years and my main job was an egress systems technician. The tail flash on this model was my first duty station. Awesome job on the model by the way.
@@wizbears Wow that is so cool! I must admit I am jealous as the F16 is my favourite fast jet so it must've been very cool to work on them. Thanks for checking it out :)
Great job! Outstanding really. You picked one of the hardest camo schemes and it came off well. I can only imagine the pain you went through while masking. I suffer from ADHD and once did a digital camo (with masks) I had to do it in 3 stages of each about 10 days, with months in between. I nearly lost my mind. Masking has always been the hardest and most hated thing to do for me in scale modelling. I love the hobby and I don't feel stressed while painting or assembling parts, it's just the masking that tests me to the fullest :) Thanks for sharing your projects, the finished models look great on your channel! I wonder how the camo pattern was done on the real jet, also by painting or by vinyl wrapping? My guess is they plotted it on a large plotting machine and then vinyl wrapped the hex-camo on the jet. Probably quicker than masking and painting it. What do you think?
Thank you very much! I think I have to agree with you, the sheer amount of masking on that bird was just mind bogglingly annoying in the end. But my mentality for modelling is trying to push myself in a different area for each build. In regard to the real jet, I weirdly think they would’ve masked it off and painted it. I feel like using that amount of vinyl might’ve potentially affected the airflow over the surface? I might be speaking out of my bum there but who knows!! Thank you very much for the comment and I hope you enjoy the rest of the content🤙🏻❤️
Very cool build you got there. The paint job was worth the work. I have the1/32 academy kit of the Viper myself. The engineering isn't anywhere close to the Tamiya one, but I got it and bunch of resin goodies fo $75. Planning for Greek or what-if Ukrainian scheme.
I really like the honesty of your build, it is "perfect" but its not. You kept it real. Some of the YT builders are so pro that is a level the most of us will never reach. Well done sir 👌🏼
Thank you very much! I like to think of it a little bit of a selling point of my channel, achievable models! Fingers crossed I may be able to get close to what those pros can do on one or two builds but for now I am definitely enjoying how it is🤙🏻
Great build and sensational paint job! Just cannot understand why someone would hold an item in the bare hand to spray paint it. Would at least wear gloves or, better, put that thing in a spray booth.
Thank you very much! Haha yeah I‘m starting to wear gloves more. In regards to spraying, for filming purposes I’ll spray in front of the white background first then once the I’m done filming i’ll move the model to my spray booth and continue the rest of my painting off camera! Hope that answers your questions😁👍🏻
Very impressive build. I've always had a love for the F16 ever since watching the Iron eagle movies back in the late 80's. The detailing on the pilot was amazing, definitely something to consider adding to future builds (if they are supplied).
Thank you very much! My love for the F16 started when I saw them at RIAT just dancing around the sky like it was nothing! Hopefully more manufacturers will start supplying them!
Thank you very much dude! I’m glad you like it, yup here’s a link to the 1/32 mask set however they do a 1/72 and a 1/48: www.super-hobby.co.uk/products/F-16C-Viper-Demo-Team-Venom-40349419.html Hope that helps!
Depends! If you want the whole package and an easy introduction I would go for a kit from Airfix’s Starter Set range, something a little more challenging you could have a look at Tamiya’s kits as their engineering is incredible! Overall i’d say try to do a subject you are passionate about as it gives you a little extra joy with your finished model :)
