Great tip on the mini T springs 👌 I been looking for something softer for my Frog and Wild One rear shocks because the factory springs are much to stiff and I believe leads to breakage!

Wow you took a 20 yr old rig and made it a rig of today. Awesome resourcefulness love the original color on the body awesome.thx for your time and information really smart practical mods!✌

Nice work on the front shocks. Back in the days, 1980's there is a company call CRP which makes the front shocks (similar to yours except the shock length is approx half and so is the tower). Also, the original Brat (1985) has a POSI rear which is great in the sand/mud etc.... Can't wait to see your video with the Brat running with the recent mods.

Thanks for the advice im toying with the idea of getting myself a brat with tower mod and pumpkin wheels and tyres will look cool!

75mm shocks on the rear. I've just installed em. Increase ground clearance. Love it!

that would look cool! I would love to see videos of that. i also highly recommend locking the rear diff with hot glue/epoxy. It make a huge difference. You can handle much rougher terrain although steering is sacrificed a bit at high speed.

I bought it at home depot, but you can just as easily get it online. It comes as a spray and a liquid. The spray looks neater, but the liquid is a bit easier to apply in tight spaces.

Hey Bud here's a tip if you're having problems with your body mount holes cracking try drilling them out with a drill if you cut them square like that they will crack

i really wouldn't try taking away the radius arms. I think they provide a necessary amount of stability/strengthening to the front shocks. At the beginning they seem to limit the travel a bit but they get sort of broken in and just provide strength to the front suspension.

Great video have you tried the front suspension without the radius arms? Do they really strenghten the front shocks they seem pointless to me? With the tower mod and 80mm shocks on the front thats a lovely smooth action you have there!

On top of what you did to it, you should increase the clearance so that you can really start to tackle some terrain! plus if you drive through water it would be nice not to submerge everything, plasti-dipped or not!

Good Job. Like the Tupperware idea. Try an open can brushed motor. 19 Turn would be good. If you find that 19T stays very very cool, you might try 17 Turn.

keep it! you never know when it will come in handy... i kept my first rc which broke and i have used parts countless times. The body can be worth something.. and you can just do a parts lot sorta thing if you want to get rid of it. you should get some decent $ for it though.

Nice work.

trust me. dont think short term. you will need some of the parts... maybe not for your blitz... but maybe your next rc or the one after that. Also, if you insist you won't need them (you inevitably will) you should be able to sell them for a decent amount. Try listing them on ebay.

Great video! Lots of useful info. I just purchased the Subaru Brat and I'm waiting for the package still. When you talk about converting to LiPo, is there anything I need to do specifically to run LiPo or just swap connectors and go?
@familyman831

I would swap esc

Nice Brat! I'm working on building one myself. Like the Tupperware idea, I might try that. What ESC do you have in there? Cheers!

i wished i lived in USA :D lol the lipo's are soooo much cheaper than in Uk and lots more rc parts available i wonder what it costs to send them over to Uk... Ive got my brat but haven't got enough money to get it restored saving up all the time though :P

hi there, i have a tamiya re re subaru brat. im just prepping the hard plastic shell now, the MR14 that came supplied with my kit works fine with the polycarbonate shell.. but the MR14 that came supplied with my kit is too "big" for the pre drilled hole in my hard plastic shell! would you know which hexagonal mount do i use for the plastic shell? is it the same as the one used for the polycarbonate shell? do i have to do further drilling of the hard plastic shell? thanks!!

The body holes on mine never cracked. And would traxxas nitro stampede shocks work for rear shocks?
