Tammy was a beautiful woman, I just wish she could have been a little more honest with herself about Richey. The man was the worst thing to happen to her.
So true, I think she wanted to get away from, Richey… but he kept saying he would write a tell all book. I read somewhere, that he would inject her with drugs even when she said she didn’t want them after she went to rehab.
We'll nvr know. She lay dead on the couch all day while Ritchie napped, too, in same room. Probably no coincidence that Tammy's credit card was used a wk before she died, on the day she died and a wk after for women's clothing. Then, Ritchie went public with his relationship with Sheila Slaughter.
I miss Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, and Dottie West. All three of them were raised on Country Sun Shine. I miss all three of them. They were all loved and still are.
She was a beautiful woman, she always had her hair fixed nice & makeup as well. Classy all the way! She was so strong & had that power house set of vocals!

She had the money to help him and instead she asked him to leave which he did and she went on to date and marry many other men, I felt for her young daughters watching all this . Peanut Montgomery asked Tammy to help pay for GJ rehab which she could have done before the divorce, easy way out. George Jones never owned the gun at the time so that he denied on world TV. As for abuse she lived with Richy the abuser all those years why didn't she walk out , because that time really did happen. No women should be abused but fake abductions and lies don't mean a man should be condemned for it and yet the real abuser richy was seeing another women all along and took Tammy's money and personal items that she would have wanted her girls to have. Richy wanted George and Tammy to sing duets because he was raking it it with the money but they were never left alone their partners made sure of that because they would have got back together and they knew it. George Jones worshipped Tammy and her girls, till the day he died he never got over Tammy. Read George jones and Georgette book. Wake up and see it for what it really was.

I suppose you may tolerate such things from your spouse because you should just "stick it out." She had every right to leave and be with someone else. No one wants to deal with an abusive drunk. Literally everyone knows he beat the shit out of that woman. You don't have to go to RU-vid to figure that out. They are literally known to have the WORST marriage in country music. If she made all of that up, why would he still have continued to be her friend and go on tour with her? He literally stated on stage himself when they went back out on tour in their later life "maybe we can get along for the first time in our life." Now why would he not ask her to admit that it was all made up if it wasn't true? Everyone accounted for her covering her bruises with make up to hide the abuse on stage. Why the hell would she pay for a man to get sober that beat her to shit? Especially with her struggling with addiction herself. He was George Jones he could've paid for his own treatment. As for her being with an another abusive man, I guess you don't understand how the cycle of abuse works. I agree there are two sides to every story she struggled with mental illness and addiction as well, but there is absolutely no excuse to abuse your spouse and call that "love."

As much as I love Tammy - she herself was far from perfect. She always talks about George's drinking but not about her own addiction to prescription drugs! She divorced George because of his drinking which undoubtly was the cause of some scary incidents/behaviours but then married Ritchie who was controlling, cheated on her and controlled the purse strings and facilitated her drug habit! She was happy to put up with this behaviour from Ritchy for over 20 years though!!! I mean at least George's behaviour was caused by alcoholism but Ritche's behaviour was just down to him being an evil person! George was totally destroyed when Tammy left him and he would have had her back in a heartbeat - but she obviously prefered to put up with the abuse from Ritchie! She made a massive mistake marrying Ritchie and she knew that herself I think deep down - especially towards the end of her life but ultimately it was her choice - but things would have been very different if she had stayed with George Jones I am totally sure of that.
when she was with george she was not suffering from drug abuse. alcoholism is a different monster. not just her but her friends and her children were put in extremely dangerous situations in her relationship with george. that was also the start of her medical issues in that relationship. him running off when they were supposed to do shows thus making all the responsibilities fall on her. she had some sense of worth with george. the man she had looked up to and trusted. when she got with richey he abused her drug addiction to get what he wanted. she was beat down by then. neck down dead because she had grown numb to all of it by that point. she knew who he was. it’s easy to accept it when you know who a person is so you don’t expect any different. she knew george wasn’t a bad person and that he loved her, but the fact that it was so easy for him to do bad to her… that’s not easy to accept. it’s confusing, embarrassing, hurtful, angering and so much more. i think through her addiction she grew compassion for george as she struggled herself. and i also don’t think she tried to portray herself as perfect. i think she was just honest when asked certain questions.
For heaven’s sake, have some compassion! She was “happy” to put up with abuse? You obviously know nothing about real abuse. It’s physical, mental, psychological, financial and can be so hard to get out of. Ditched was her fifth marriage. Early on in their marriage, Ritchie beat her and told her if she ever tried to leave him, he would write a tell-all book and destroy her life. Unfortunately, she believed him She didn’t give him control over her because she wanted to be treated like garbage. She did it because he fooled her into thinking he was a good person, then took advantage of her vulnerability and self-esteem issues. Everyone who knew her said she was a humble, down to earth person who was very aware of her own shortcomings. The guilt over which allowed other people to take advantage of her. As for George, I love him, he’s my favorite country singer, but he was probably hell to live with and be married to. His drinking was legendary. Before, during and after their marriage. That’s not something she should have just put up with just because it was “better” than the abuse she and fear she suffered later. Abuse should not be thought of as a given and that people should just be thankful they aren’t treated worse. She was a good woman who had faults and didn’t deserve to be treated the way she was often treated. All she wanted was what any of us want, which is to love and be loved but often made the wrong choice. She deserved better. Don’t you dare victim blame her.

But if your opinion is that because someone stays in a bad marriage, it means they are happy with the abuse, or that someone should've stayed in a toxic relationship because someone else treated them worse later on, or "preferred" worse abuse to just regular bad abuse, then it's wrong. Plain and simple. And if you don't like that---tough! Ritchy was evil, no doubt about it, and her life may have been different had she stayed with Jones, but she didn't want to deal with his drinking. And that's a perfectly legitimate reason to dump someone. And staying with someone who has convinced you that they will ruin your life if you ever try to leave them is not ideal but is understandable.
To see how alive she was in this interview and then within months she was dead tells me someone had a hand in it and those hands belonged to a Greedy, Jealous self serving George Richey.
