I've lived in Tampa since the late 70's and it's always been laid back and racially could best be described as a jar of different colored jelly beans shaken and thrown on the ground. As for West Tampa those large brick buildings are old cigar factories that go back to the late 1880's to early 1900's. Ybor City just east of doentown has more. Some are converted into shops and restaurants in Ybor City. The small mini houses in West Tampa actually were built for the cigar workers and some still exist. There's some in Ybor City too. Nebraska/Fowler/Fletcher area is actually the highest crime area. Cool Video. Thanks.

Tampa Bay is a neat metropolitan area, because there's much influence or vibes from other cities, like Miami, New Orleans, Atlanta, Houston etc. Like West Tampa/Town 'n' Country has that Miami/Hialeah vibe, Ybor City/Palmetto Beach has a like a Spanish New Orleans type of vibe, Seminole Heights/Tampa Heights has it's historic Deep South architecture sprinkled hip and seedy elements, South Tampa/Davis Island can feel a bit little like a tame Coral Gables/Miami Gardens, Sulphur Springs/East Tampa has areas that feel a little like some parts of Atlanta, Jacksonville and other cities in the Deep South and Downtown Tampa is improving although it's largely a business district. Moving beyond Tampa city limits, Pinellas County is the most densely populated county in Florida and feels a lot like Broward County as does coastal Pasco county, Brandon/Riverview are growing in to suburbs like Miami Lakes, Plant City feels much like any rural area in the Deep South, as does much of the outskirts of Hillsborough, Manatee County starts to feel and look more tropical and finally there's Polk and Pasco county, which are still pretty rural with hilly terrain for Florida standards; some parts of Polk county don't even feel like Florida.lol All in all, the Tampa Bay area has a lot to offer and it's no wonder that people are starting to move there; although they really need to improve their expressway/tollways and public transportation system, that's one of my only complaints about the area.

We did HYPE PARK VIDEO, WE did SOUTH TAMPA.. We did Armenia Latino district.. We have done LOTS of NICE tampa stuff. About half and half. But.. the HOODS get 10x more views for some reason. Who knows.. maybe more interesting OR less RU-vid cover this subject.. not sure. I wanna go back for WESLEY CHAPEL.. If you want to see a different but crazy hood go to Gibsonton just south of the Tampa city limits. It was settled by retired circus performers, lots of poverty and drugs. Best location around Gibsonton Drive and US 41 South ( Same as South 50th St ). Looks like Appalachia in there.

Yup, when these businesses stop investing in the community because of riots, tax revenue decreases which is what helps pay for all public services. South/Central LA is still reeling economically from the riots almost 30 years later.....
Looting is unfortunate but police brutality is worse. There is plenty of video footage showing those who intentionally highjacked the movement. When police can be held accountable for murdering people society will be a much better place.
This country is deep in hate. I do my best on a personal level. No law can change the hate in peoples heart. I left home today for work and saw a inmate work crew.. every single one was black.. made me very angry.. our county is 6% black but 100% of this inmate crew is black? So wrong.

I love my city-it has so much character, even these hoods. I know Tampa has its issues, just like any large city, but overall, I still think it’s a great place to live. …It’s called “Suitcase City” because of the transient population in the neighborhood. Many of the homes/apartments there were originally built by developers as affordable student housing for the University of South Florida (USF) students; but gradually, over time, other low-income people started to move in there, too. According to Andrew Huse, librarian and archivist at USF, “What was groomed as a student living area became a place where the poorest people moved to.” The entire Suitcase City area is slated for development, though. It has been rebranded as the Uptown Tampa Innovation District (or “Uptown District”). The area is a study in contrasts-it is part of a medical/research/entertainment district with some of the highest net worth professionals in the city (lots of people, including doctors, etc., in the medical field, work there); yet, at the same time, about 80 percent of the residents who live there in Suitcase City live below the poverty level. Currently, local leaders are working hard to leverage USF and the surrounding medical and entertainment companies to create a high-tech corridor, as well as a leading academic and clinical care destination. I still miss Tampa, I dont care. I been to that Univ Mall, it was ok. I like the Tampa experience. Win or lose, its a good place. I cant sai the same for where I am now. And even in its "shit" state, Id rather be there. I have a soft spot for Tampa, even all the wai in Portland Or.

I have a connection to Tampa, thats Cigars and the fact some of the outskirts are nice too. I like Valrico too. South Tampa, and even Old Tampa I spent time in. I had the balls to walk N Florida Ave according to someone who was too scared to do it lol. I lived in the hood but seminole heights was close. I walked there. I even went out. The hood of Tampa was not that bad. South St Pete however I thought was worse. Largo too. Mi heart is in Tampa.. I mean if I dont go there, Im going to Dallas TX. A place that still knows how to win.
