Is the new Tamron 11-20mm f2.8 better than the good old Fujinon 10-24mm f4? Is there a clear winner in terms of image quality, size, weight and overall bang for your buck?

Tempted to buy tamron, but here in Germany tamron is now priced 899 euro where as used fuji can be found in 560

The internal zoom of the 10-24 in my opinion for video (when shooting on a on a gimble) is worth losing 1 stop of light, rebalancing is impossible when you need to make quick adjustments. If you are using IBIS only it makes little difference (as long as there is no zoom creep on the tamron)

True true. However, if you set your lens half way (in this case 15mm) being a lightweight lens (330g) won’t make a difference on your gimbal - tested and verified. I do that with bigger and heavier lenses and don’t have a problem (for example the Tamron 28-75mm with my Sony A7Siii). But again, didn’t test it for video so can’t tell how well it performs. @cris_photography thanks for the reply 😀 I may try it with other lenses, see if it helps. I know it probably won't work with my copy of the 16-80 as the lens zoom creeps while on the gimbal (wish fuji would place a lock on zoom lenses, but they want to sell the 18-120)

How does the Tamron resolve the 40 MP of the XH2/XT5 vs the Fuji? I think that was an important question you missed.

It is a good question indeed! I don’t have (and won’t for a while) a 40mp sensor camera so can’t tell. I don’t feel the need to up the mp for my line of work and I could not get a T5 or H2 on time unfortunately 😰 I will try when I get my hands on one and post an update 👍🏼

Even the Fuji 10-24 is not rated 40MP compatible

Cris, great video. In light of Sigma announcing the 10-18mm F2.8, what are your thoughts? Will you do a comparison video? I have the Sigma 18-50 and is very satisfy with it (replacing my XF 16-80 as a lighter carry for street/urban landscape/event documentation type of photography) due to size and weight. Now I am looking for a camera that can serve as a vlog/landscape/night sky time lapse photography wide angle zoom lens. Fuji is a bit too pricey for me at the moment, so am looking at the Tamron or the Sigma. As I am not a professional nor pixel peeper, since most of my posts on for social media purpose rather than professional work. Love to hear your thoughts. Cheers, Joe

What about the Viltrox 13 mm f 1.4 as an alternative for a wide angle lens?

It's a very good one too (reviewed it on this channel a while back if you want to check the video) but sometimes it's not wide enough (for real estate for example) I think. But being f1.4 it's amazing for astrophotography :) cheers
