We were so surprised and so impressed by the performance of the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2 Lens for Sony E Mount! If you had to buy one of these lenses, which one would you add to your kit bag?
Got Tamron 28-75 G2 with my brand new Sony A7IV. It's a fantastic combo. With Just 45% of the price of Sony 24-70 GM2 here in India. With the money saved i bought Viltrox 13mm f1.4 apsc for ultra wide angle. It's a good deal without compromise.....
I planned on buying the sigma 24-70 f2.8 art lens for my a7riv. But when I went to my camera store they had the sigma 28-70 f2.8 DG DN for a couple hundred dollars cheaper. I said what the hell I will give it a try. I thought for sure I was going to return it because I was gonna need that extra 4 mm wider. And I am totally impressed with the 28-70. I decided to keep it. You can use it as a macro lens because it has such a short minimum focusing distance and it is completely silent when shooting video and I love how sharp it is. I don’t know nothing about how good the Tamron is or the Sony version but I really like the Sigma. And I really like how small and white it is. I’m the photographer that bigger means better in size lol. But I am really happy with my decision. The extra buttons that Sony lenses have on the side I don’t use them on any of my lenses so it didn’t matter to me that the sigma did not have this. Thanks for creating this video and comparing everything.
Absolutely love this review 🙂 real world practical tests out in the field and not just in a studio with test charts. It's great because I can directly observe how the lenses work in places where I'd be shooting.
A few weeks ago I bought the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 and LOVE it. Detail is excellent shooting thru Sony A7R iv and comparable to my Sony 90mm macro in macro(ish) work. It was a good decision. Thanks for the comparison of these models!
Great comparison! I have an a7iii and am an amateur shooting landscapes, kids & high school sports with lots of family events. bought the Tamron 70-180 last year and it is perfect for indoor sports. I have been using the Sigma 16-35 with converter or a Tamron 20 for close work.( not ideal). I’m now purchasing the Tamron 28-75 to complete my setup. Thanks again for an excellent comparison
Absolutely fantastic review. Comprehensive, clear, hit all the right spots, and it’s concise without compromising on the quality of the information provided. It help me chose my next lens, which at this round will be the Tamron.
Thanks for this amazing review. I do not have the privilege of buying and testing all lenses ( GM not in my consideration anyhow) . You made it possible. I am going to get the sigma 28-75 as a walk around lens during my travel. I was thinking about getting Sony 20-70 F4, but at times I require at least an f2.8 , though I have to compromise on the wide end . Thank you 🙏
i instantly subscribed to you as soon as i came to end of the video, it is so praciticle and done very well, and pleasing to watch really loved this comparison
A great review. It appears to have its shortfalls in this review but I went for the Sigma 28-70mm in the end. It is smaller and lighter than the other two lenses and I have seen on other tests that it's very close to the Sigma 24-70mm 'Art' lens in sharpness. Just a lot cheaper.
This just cleared every doubt i had regarding those 3… I’ll go for sigma… although tamron is a tad better at 75mm but sigma is lighter… so aigma it is… thank you for this wonderful comparison…
Thanks for the video, I still can't decide between the Tamron and the Sigma. As I am planning to buy the 35 DG DN from sigma i will probably go with sigma as the macro capability looks awesome too.
Brilliant contents guys! I finally opted for the TAMRON 28-75mm G2, considering I already own the 17-28 and the 70-180, with the same filter diameter. Have the 50mm SIGMA ART, one of the more pleasant lens ever tried, but in this case TAMRON, with the second generation of this lens, marked a valuable distance with the SIGMA, in terms of sharpness and details overall
Hey! May I ask what is your long term experience? I am gonan buy the sony a7 iv next month. I already own a sony 70-200mm f4 and I was really thinking of getting the 27-75mm tamron with the sigma 50mm art (and or with the 20-40mm 2.8 tamron)
Thanks for the good video bro. I'm also using a7c and I decided to go with Sigma after watching your video. But I'm worried about waterproof. I heard that Sigma's waterproof is weaker than Tamron's. I'm thinking of taking photos and documentary videos in techno clubs and mountains. Is Sigma's waterproof okay?
awesome video guys! I am waiting for my new sony a7c camera - my first professional camera for my RU-vid honestly. I have chosen Tamron! Hope will enjoy that combo
I‘ve chosen the Tamron because of its wide-angle close focus capability. The newer Sony GM2 would be a very good alternative but then it’s even more expensive than the GM you’re comparing here. And I‘ll still be using my 24-105 f4 as my preferred general purpose lens.
Thank you so much for the comparison! I hope the auto focus speed could be mentioned in the review. Did you notice any difference of the auto focus speed among these three?
Hey there! Thanks for the question. We didn't notice any difference in autofocus speed between the lenses. The only thing that differed slightly was accuracy, as mentioned in the comparison.
Love it🔥🙌. Although I want to point out that you guys by mistake mixed de picture of the spiderweb when comparing the Sigma with Sony. Sigma picture was the Sonys picture. 11:10 . Keep it up
3:36 Images from digital cameras that are slightly brighter contain more information in the mid and dark tones that are important to the image and have a better signal-to-noise ratio. To claim that images from three different lenses that differ in brightness are very close in image quality is to mislead the viewer. If I have three identical cameras, I can trigger them simultaneously with an infrared remote shutter release. The differences in brightness are then due to the different light attenuation caused by the number of lenses and the types of glass used.
I read several reviews the Tamrons physical makeup is inferior to Sigma. The zoom is noisy and the manual focus isn't smooth? Also Sigma is smaller and lighter on the lenses you showed?
While of course each manufacturer will come with their own advantages and disadvantages - the optical quality produced by Tamron lenses is superb, especially for a creator on a budget!
Im after a 24 70 f2.8 for my a7m3. The sigam art is just too heavy. So it's got to be either the 28 75 tamron or the 28 70 sigma and watched alot of these types of videos and I can't decide 😢
I have the sigma 1, its great and stupid light. Although the new tamron g2 version is really good, id probably recommend that one. Although if weight is an issue, the sigma 28-70 is the smallest/lightest zoom lense you can get!
For photography you can get similar result but for video tamron has better Af than sigma almost at level of the sony. I like tamron for zoom lenses and sigma for primes !
Great review guys . Think I liked the Tamron image and lens performance the best overall. I have quite a few Sigma lenses and the one thing I k ow they struggled with is autofocus. Especially their older Art line . I have several Sony GM and one G lens . The Sonys were sharp with good color but have some short comings for their price.
i want the sigma 24mm 1.4 and the 18-35 and the 24-70 and the 70-200 all from sigma i love what i'm hearing from them so i want to start getting these camera lenses. i really like what i see so i want to know how good sigma art series is
Quick Question: Which camera / lens profile did you shoot the video of you out in the field on? It looked quite good. i have a Sony a6500 and I struggle to get as nice colors as the shots of you guys out in the woods.
Why dont you put those spoken numbers on the screen since you are already filming for it and till you reach last lens and close focusing distance first one is forgoten already ;)
your reasoning on saying the sony would be better for professionals is flawed. as you guys pointed out you can buy 3 of the tamrons for the price of one sony. based on what you showed us. under no circumstances is the sony worth 3 times as much.. i liked the video. ill get the tamron based on what i saw. Thanks for helping me make up my mind.
Why did you not compare the trip with the Sigma 24-70 Art lens instead of the "budget" lens. The new Tamron has upped its game and should be compared favorably to the Sigma Art. Only a couple hundred dollars separate the two. The Sigma "C" really is a budget lens and should not have been used. Since I already have the Sony 24-105, I will not be getting either Sigma or Tamron. I don't shoot professionally and have no real need to spend more money on a lens I really don't need. Now, if only video cards would come down in price, that is where I have a almost desperate need.
just bought the Tamron. it feels good and produces great results for half the cost. and paired with my a9ii, it focuses flawless. great video. thank you guys.
Sigma is a winner just by judging by its size. Imagine carrying the 24-70 GM all day. Fixing chromatic aberrations take 5 sec. In Lightroom and the sharpness is more than enough for most of fields.
@@lvrvisuals7800 well guess why Sony is releasing a mkii version of the 24-70 GM?! There is seriously no point buying the 24-70 gm unless you really need the 24mm wide angle. Sigma and Tamron options are as good as the sony for half the price.
Thanks for taking on this comparison. Unfortunately, given there can be significant variations between one sensor sample and the next within the same camera model, let along sample variation among lenses, the choice to use different camera bodies for each lens means we can’t draw any conclusions about lens performance but rather are evaluating the body/lens combinations instead. Also, given the inevitable march to higher pixel counts, I’m disappointed to have this evaluation centered around 24 MP, which isn’t very demanding of a lens’ optics at all. The choice of a single high-MP camera body would have been more revealing.
