When I see these reviews what I like to see the most are pictures or videos to really see the performance, but there are almost none of those here. I see clips of you holding the lens and pointing the lens, but almost no pictures.

I don't know. I don't really care about the pictures; you can't tell much from pictures on RU-vid, I care more about the photographer's experience. These days any lens can take good pictures, it's more about the autofocus performance, build quality, etc.

I’ve had the original 70-180 since I started and it’s a fantastic beginner zoom. Having now used a 70-200 I definitely miss the extra 20 and creature comforts of the 70-200 but the price is great and I will always recommend it for a first lens.

Personally i believe that the focusing limititations on this Tamron lens are in the Sony firmware. The New Sigma 70/200 f2.8 has the best glass and focusing motors and will focus from close to far instantly. But when focusing while zooming at the same time it will not focus as good as the GM. I think it is Sony that is putting these limitations on these 3rd party lenses. Just like the 15fps cap Sony put on 3rd party glass. Just like how focus breathing compinsation doesnt work on 3rd party glass. Just like the Sony teleconverter doesnt work on the new Sigma 70/200 even though the converter fits on the lens. And i think its time for Sony to stop limiting the ability of 3rd party glass in there firmware.

The Tamron Lens Utility Android App is also nice when you're looking to change the lens characteristics on the fly. The mechanical MF override is priceless (I'm set to 180°) and the unbelievable control you have over the AF limiter is actually brilliant.

Good used 70-180 G1 is half price of the G2, and it has the 90%-95% of the function and sharpness and everything! Amazing deal and super affordable. Dream come true lens. No need to pay double

I really want to see how it performs with sports photography. I’m just worried about how the images will look above the 100mm mark.

I have the e-mount and z-mount version of this lens. It is good enough for my needs, but if I leave Nikon (comparing the ZF and A7CII this month,) I'll sell both of them and get the G2. ;)

A7III paired with this lens would be a good combo for portraits and landscapes stills?

Hey Kyle, When you camera have ibis and your lens have VC. Are you able to enjoy of more stabilization? Will it use both stabilizers or will it choose one or the other? 2:36

It isn’t really “more” on the 3rd party lenses. They work together though!

Doss anyone know if there’s a video that compares the Tamron 70-180 with Sigmas latest 70-200? Contemplating waiting for that release to decide. But I’ve been eyeing up this Tamron lens since the g1!

G1 is available on z-mount. I wouldn't hold your breath for an update. I don't think any of the Tamrikon lenses are G2 versions. :\
