This is a quick look at the first generation Tamron AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC LD Aspherical [IF] MACRO.
I have some photos from this lens in a gallery here: www.thephotographyhobbyist.com...
This is a good super-zoom with image stabilization for a full frame camera. The Nikon 28-300mm VR lens is certainly better quality overall, but the Nikon version is also much more expensive and heavier. If you need a good quality lens on a budget and very fast/quiet focusing is something you can live without, this is a very good lens to have. The lens is made in Japan.
Video recorded on the Sony a6000 with 16-50mm kit lens.

Thanks for the video. I lucked out this week and bought this at an estate auction for $11. It was in the original box and didn't have a scratch on it.

Wow. That’s a steal. I’ve always dreamed about finding really high-quality, expensive Nikon lenses at yard sales or something like that. Haha. No such luck yet. I think the glass on these Tamron lenses are pretty good but the only thing I had a genuine complain about was the slow auto focus. The focus motor in that thing is just pretty slow but if you don’t need superfast focusing it’s fine.

I was luckier. Got one at auction for minus $500, that's right, they paid me to take it away. Turned out to be a special anniversary model with gold plated bits. So there.

Thanks for the review and photo links. I just picked up the same kind of deal... never used new in box Canon version on eBay for $200. Hopefully, it works as well as yours. I bought the 2 yr squaretrade warranty for $47 as I think Tamron warranty expired and non authorized reseller. Looks like you really got your money worth. Thanks again for the video!!!

There were versions of this lens in Nikon F mount with aperture ring. They must be pre-2000s. They should be great for adapting, I have a FUJI X-T10 and using all my old Nikon mount lenses.

Thank you, enjoy the lens. :) I’ve always thought it was really good optically, but just a little slow for auto focus

Hello i want this lens or simmilar 18-200 or 28-300 foe my sony a6000 i need adapter please tell me will it work and which ones can i use. Thank you very much !!!
@ThePhotographyHobbyist

Bgvolley Sony makes an 18-135 for the E mount. It would be a 27-202 equivalent. They also make an 18-200 which is like 27-300. Tamron also makes an 18-200 for the Sony E mount.

How Would it work on a cannon Eos 60D?
@ThePhotographyHobbyist
@ThePhotographyHobbyist 5 лет назад
Tamron makes a Canon mount version but I believe the 60D is an APS-C size sensor which means the 28-300 full frame lens like this would be a longer focal length....for example, 42-450 or something like that.

Do you think it is compatible with a Canon EOS Rebel T5?
@ThePhotographyHobbyist
@ThePhotographyHobbyist 8 лет назад
For a crop sensor camera like the Canon you mentioned, this would be the equivalent lens to the one I show in the video: www.tamron-usa.com/lenses/prod/18200_B018.php#ad-image-0 The 28 to 300 I show in the video is designed for full frame sensor cameras. The 18 to 200 in the link I posted is the equivalent lens for your camera to the 28 to 300 I talk about.

I'm surprised you wouldn't take the X-T1 with 18-135mm on vacation instead. WR would be useful. I'm certain the Fujinon glass is superior to that old Tamron.
@ThePhotographyHobbyist

I'm taking both this summer :-). And yes the 18-135 is a better lens in all areas.

@@ThePhotographyHobbyist i want to buy the mint tamron lens.. will you recommend it..? because its budget lens..especially about sharpness
@ThePhotographyHobbyist
@ThePhotographyHobbyist 5 лет назад
@@riandhy6018 The Tamron is perfectly fine optically. It's not as good as the Nikon 28-300 but it's still good. The focusing on it is a little slow though and also the VC (image stabilization) is a little slower to engage and noisier, but other than that it's a good lens in general. I think it's actually made in Japan too. I think so...

is this lens sharp for sports ??????????????
@ThePhotographyHobbyist
@ThePhotographyHobbyist 9 лет назад
Danny Diet I would say overall it's reasonably sharp for a 'super zoom'. For my purposes, it's perfectly fine and more than acceptable.

And how does Tamron AF28-300 F3/3.5 -5.6 compares with Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD Telephoto Lens

Danny Diet I'm not sure. I've never used the 70-300.

Hooked on Photography is this AF 28-300 f/3.5 6.3 can work on fullframe??
@ThePhotographyHobbyist
@ThePhotographyHobbyist 9 лет назад
Danny Diet Yes this lens is intended for full frame 35mm cameras. If used on an APS-C body, you'd have to multiply the focal length by 1.5 times.
