This is a quick look at the first generation Tamron AF28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC LD Aspherical [IF] MACRO.

This is a good super-zoom with image stabilization for a full frame camera. The Nikon 28-300mm VR lens is certainly better quality overall, but the Nikon version is also much more expensive and heavier. If you need a good quality lens on a budget and very fast/quiet focusing is something you can live without, this is a very good lens to have. The lens is made in Japan.
