In California the age of consent is 18. Regardless of how you feel about it morally, Tana could not legally consent at 17 and that makes what happened a crime.

I experienced something similar, I was hit up by this 22 yo when i was 16, ignored his message. At the time i was working with his sister who was close in his age and she even said he shouldn't be talking to you. A few months before i turned 18, i dont remember how but we started texting a lot, and he pursued me. But he never wanted to make our relationship official, for almost the entire time we were involved. Just s3xually. When we did make it official a year later he ended it in a few months because he "still didnt fall in love with me" and at the time i was living with him. So i can understand why someone who's 17 still should not be able to consent to someone above like 18 or 19. It leaves a lot of room to be taken advantage of, and at that age a lot of us aren't aware that's whats happening until years later.

As a victim of a violent crime, I can attest to Tanas statement of people not believing you. I was jumped after being ran over by two cars. One of the drivers was drunk and very rich and paid off the local police department.
