Ive been on the omnipod system with Dexcom g5/6 for 8 years and 2weeks ago I switched to the tandem tslim x2. I am on the control iq right from the get go my endo lowered nighttime basal. My time in range went from 20% to 88% .

Been on the T-slim with the G5 for 3 years now. Got updated to the G6 with control IQ a week ago. I'm liking it so far. It's taking a little bit to get used to it, but it's not that difficult. It's keeping me in range much better, and with the sleep mode on I haven't had a low. I would recommend it. I was on the Medtronic for 16 years before switching to T-Slim.

It really is! I hate having a tube pump but I'm willing to compromise for having the best control.

Thanks so much. I’ve been on the t-slim for about 6 months and had questions about the update. I feel I’m constantly trying to get things under control. I have a habit of self correcting and it’s causing over correction. I was on Minimed for almost 30 years and has been hard to switch but the t-slim has lowered my a1c to under 8. Which is amazing for me. I’m still scared to do the update but feeling more confident with your help! Thanks!

Just seen this comment now. I was hesitant to update at first because I heard you can't turn back. But boy, am I glad that I did! It has put me in even better control of my diabetes. So worth it!

I'm on day one and super frustrated. Im still adjusting to the system. Ive been stuck at 200 all day and may have changed my basil bc I've about had it haha. I know I need to just let myself adjust but its frustrating

Thinking about switching to Control IQ but am very scared because I was on a Medtronic 670G and it kept me very high all the time, plus their sensors weren't accurate so I never trusted the numbers I was getting.

val wadsworth is the Medtronic 670G the latest one?
@TheDiabeticJourney

I've heard that is a common issue with Medtronic CGM readings. The Dexcom is really accurate but not perfect (sometimes loses signal). But overall, when everything is working properly, the pump Tslim system with Dexcom work great.

Did you suffer with high readings and keytones when you first went on the pump

How would you compare the changing of pods with the changing of infusion sets for the T-slim? I am thinking of switching to the T-slim but am concerned about the what is involved with changing the infusion sets for the T-Slim. The calibration etc. Thanks.

Do you tweak settings for your Basal profiles on your own or do you call in to your endo to talk with them about it first? I know things aren't quite high enough, but I also don't know what increment values to increase by. i have always had my endo do my profile updates but i feel like i could do this bit myself with guidance (and I dont want to want till my next appointment at the end of March )

If you arent comfortable in changing your own settings yet then dont. But talk to your endo/team and tell them you want to do your own settings and they might be able to give you guidelines, tips amd tricks or just a set rate at which to raise or lower your basal/carb rates if you are having spikes, drop and whatever else. You might just have to work closely and slowly with them for a while

I've had type 1 for 18 years so I'm comfortable with tweeting my settings. But of course, if you're newly diagnosed or not as comfortable then I would definitely seek advice from your doctor. It takes time to learn your body and what your requirements are throughout the month.

@@TheDiabeticJourney I had a chat with my endo for my first teleMed call and she said she isnt opposed to me tweaking on my own and just check in if I am unsure, I'm headed into my 7th year and we have been working together for just over 5.

Having a hard time getting my 9-year-old son set up with the control iq. He keeps going low and I've just shut off the control IQ because it's been an issue so far.. any suggestions?

My daughter is getting her pump soon and her dexcom cgm. We’re very excited! She’s been pricking her fingers and doing injections for almost 5 years. She’ll be 17 in a few mos and is just so ready for this great diabetes technology gadget! Time saver and pain saver for sure!

@@techtutorial2424 thank you! For sure.. 🙏🏻 she also has Ulcerative colitis that we’re dealing with daily but with some trial and error and a couple hospital stays we have it managed! 🙏🏻🙌🏻❤️🙂

@@ninas4968 The most important thing is, be careful of her high and lows glucose level immediately, manage her glucose levels at the right time otherwise she will face very severe complications in the future like vision impairment kidney disease maybe a heart attack or complete vision loss, but if you manage it well it is okay and never ever she will face any prolems or complications even in her 70s or 80s. MANAGE HER GLUCOSE VERY WELL AND GET ADVICE FROM HER ENDOCRINOLIGIST.....
