Making earrings with my 3d stamps. And at times I use a arbor press l got at harbor freight.

Question. Is it normal for the maul to get little dents and dings and tiny chips in it when you are using it with stamps. Or am I doing something wrong?

That is normal. All mauls will get dings and dents.

Will it work on finished veg tanned leather? My stamping is really horrible 😥

I have stamped on my veg tan even after I have dyed it but not after I have put a finish top coat, because by that point it won't take water so can't case the leather to let it stamp well. That main thing is that the leather has to be able to take in the water so to be able to accept the stamp. That is why chrome tan can't be stamped. You can do heat embossing though.
