*The open air live concert of Tangerine Dream at the amphitheatre Augusta Raurica in Switzerland.* *Was one of the first concerts TD performed after the death of Edgar Froese, head and founder of TD.* *The beautiful sight surrounded by an ancient Roman village, the fantastic ancient amphitheatre created a very special atmosphere for the magic music.* *Thorsten Quaeschning, Ulrich Schnauss and Hoshiko Yamane performed a great collection of classic TD tracks that night.* *Enjoy a contemporay document of Tangerine Dream's musical output. In commemoration of Edgar.*

because they think electronic music is the mainstream things they have heard most of the times and they have a very small sample of the genre.Anything that is driven and orchestrated by a human being to serve art and his/her soul and not the popular demand for entertaining the masses to get drunk and dance for a short time and to have no idea they are listening, can be soulful.

Only Tangerine Deram could create that magic. No one other band that played electronic music could do it. Kraftwerk made their music sounds robotic and souless.

Tangerine Dream ist part of my life for a long, long Time. I have seen them in front of the Deutscher Reichstag in Berlin back then, on the Loreley and maybe some other concerts. Even as Edgar has changed his cosmic address some time ago I find the three musicians forming Tangerine Dream nowadays are really one of the best crews ever! I love this new and fresh style very much.

@@bugazbeach What happend to Jerome Froese? Once between 1992 and today I've bought a newer release by them ( *Melrose IIRC* ) and faintly remember the name (was it his son IDKN). As to this line-up, it shows *great musicians* can reproduce great music. Saw only once a picture of the 1970's lineup in "BRAVO" one magazine for young people, never heard anything of them well into the 1980's... *Better late then never* .

Though no one of members of TD here is original member however, i hear original Tangerine Dream music. No more - no less. Briliant. Thank you for eternal music of Tangerine dream. I remember myself now : 1977, i was 17 years old and had album Stratosfear in my hands. I painfuly loved that album since the same year - Christmas 25th, my mum died from cancer that she suffered for several months Did listen to it days and nights. After i had Phaedra then some several other albums.

I cannot understand why some people have a problem with the violin. I think it layers distinctively and smoothly over the sequencing and keyboards. Many of the best moments were when it came in. They could let the leash off it a bit more and it wouldn't hurt (though it would be difficult to see that in something like Rubycon). There was a Canadian band called Brigand in the early 80s called Brigand that used a violin over moog synthesizers and mellotron (actually a more contemporary keyboard acting as a mellotron) and that also worked very well.

For you older generations, music like this was awesome like listening to tangerine dream, kraftwerk, and other instrumental groups from the psychedelic era. Even groups such as Alan Parsons Project, Moody Blues, and others were so much better than most of today's 'musical' artists. And it's quite ironic when I hear positive comments from my 13 yr old, when she hears what I'm listening to and she even listens to music you can 'chill out' with

It is unfortunate that Edgar did not live to enjoy more of the Quantum Years. But he did start this lineup on the right path and to my ears they are doing him proud, and true to the original direction of the band's music. Once things normalize in the future would love to see TD do a tour of the US.
@bugazbeach

I sometimes have to respond to a negative attitude towards the new TD line-up. On the other hand, over 120 thousand views of the release only on this channel indicates that TD is still in demand today. As for the USA tour, only demand creates supply. And this means-you need to rock the theme and everything will be OK! I hope you understand me. Forgive my poor English.

Thorsten Quaeschning restored and then managed to even TRANCE-send (sorry...) the glorious, sublime TD "Virgin years." TQ is the greatest thing to happen to TD since "Sorcerer."- They were blown off the rails with "Cyclone" (I mean, "Rising Runner Missed by Endless Sender?" And VOCALS--I think NOT. REALLY...) until he came along. How PROUD Edgar would be of his protegé!!! Such astounding talent...truly TD-worthy talent--and once more sans the damn "smooth jazz" saxophones and go-go dancers, to boot...(pardon the pun). #TheDreamLivesOn #IhaveATangerineDream

You know what I think about it? It is always appropriate and jazz is no exception, and vocals, and dancing in a good rhythm, when it is appropriate. I'm not sure that the translator will make the correct translation.

If I remember correctly I had a recorded tape with a TD album from '69. That wasn't electronic music yet, I remember violin, piano, double bass, flute, etc. and it was very hectic music for my early taste. I was around 16 and I love them from that time - during the last 34 years.

56:13...that old sequence. Love it. 1:02:38 always reminds me of the movie "The Soldier". Dolphin Dance... I always liked "Dolphin Smile" better...it's a shame they didn't include it on the album. Glad I got to see TD in their heyday. With Johannes and then later with Bernhard Beibl. He was a good guitarist. I saw Tangerine Dream for the last time in Napa, California on July 13, 2012. Was hanging out at the backdoor when Edgar and his lovely wife walked up. They were just wandering around downtown. I said..."Good to see you...really looking forward to the show". "Bought my first TD record in 1975." He thanked me and shook my hand...better than any photo. He didn't look too healthy. Two and a half years later, Edgar took his last breath... He was born on D-Day, June 6, '44...died 20th of January 2015. That's a great run...70 years. A pulmonary embolism took him...blood clot in the lungs. I had a blood clot that traveled to my brain...did serious damage to my right side. They called mine a stroke. Luckily my right side is coming back...but damn...walking and being active is out. Thank God I'm left handed.

Too far away from real Tangerine Dream(70s , 80s). not only because of the lack of creative composing power but also DIGITAL. since 1990 when digital came to music industry, there is no more feeling in music(specially electronic music).where is that continuous ANALOG quantity? where is that FEELING ?nowadays there is no more feeling in music,because all sounds are created and recorded and mixed and mastered and saved in a digital format(0,1) where many data are erased in this kind of format, whereas an analog format is a continuous quantity. this is why when you listen to an old song(before 1990) you can easily feel that FEELING.

@tomfenn7149

@@bugazbeach The LP 'White Eagle', on the track 'Mojave Plan' was part recorded using a symphony orchestra. In fact there's a video of it on YT somewhere. But the reason you most likely haven't heard it repeated anywhere since is just how expensive it would be to do. All those musicians would have to be paid. Better to work with a small chamber group, but you'd still have to pay them! And hence the Mellotron, & later, sampler.
