I concur with you. Everytime I find music like this from Tangerine dream, I save it to my playlist of the same name. I really love the rhythm and the beat of the music. I consider music like this as traveling music. By the way, have you ever listened to the music by a french artist named Jean michel Jarre,he plays synthetic electronic music similar to tangerine dream. You ought to check it out. He has a channel on RU-vid. Look him up, I think that you will enjoy the music he plays.
February 1981,Rome, Italy..they have started the second half of their concert with an incredibile crescendo ...It was "Silver Scale"...lucky me,I was there and I Remember everything.
1986 in Detroit (Underwater Sunlight), 1988 in Philadelphia (Optical Race), and in 1992 again in Philadelphia (Rockoon). I missed them in 2023 in Philadelphia again.
Takie to były czasy.. Fan TD
what a great piece of music. i collect TD's music since 1978, and i am devoted to it. something totally different from top 40 hitmusic. music with depth , feeling and originallity.
My 21YO son says he loves TD music because it is so "organic"... this piece is a great example of that...Tangerine Dream music is "alive". Long live Edgar in the Eternal Music Hall of Fame...
@@raymatthews4319Yep...I'm 73, been listening to TD since the '70's, can't beat it to help relax, with the variety they offer you can pick the mood you want to be in...
Wspaniale.
I saw first Tangerine Dream on the "Force Majeure" tour. It was loud and until the encores, difficult music. I then saw them at the same venue, the New Theatre in Oxford, on the "Tangram" tour in 1980. It was like this recording: positive, aspirational, euphoric....I saw many, many gigs by many artists after this but I can truly say that none came close.
That one, two and three-a-and-a-four-a-and-a sequence is, I think, fairly characteristic of TD. I can think of multiple places I remember hearing that pattern in their music.
Simply put, a perfect piece of music. Emotional, sad, victorious, epic, mesmerising... there aren't enough superlatives to describe this. This track was a clear example of the lush melodies that Johannes Schmoelling brought to Tangerine Dream in 1980 moving them on rapidly from the Force Majeure sound from 18 months earlier. Just love those dreamy Oberheim synth pads of the first 6 mins or so of this. Pure genius!
Yep. Schmoelling and the PPG Wave synth brought about a new, very characteristic flavor to their sound. The early 80's sound. My first album by them was Logos, which I bought in vinyl, 1983. Immediately fell in love, both with the band and with the synths.
@@RichardW001 I was introduced to TD by my son in law a few weeks ago, you are my source of catching up on this incredible music. Your participation here is greatly appreciated
What can be better as this one? Pure magic, packed into notes and arpeggios...the classic music of the future that contains all...music of the universe, where all borders disappear 🌌🎼🌟👌🤩🌌
Maynard G. Krebs Thanks...thats really nice ! I try the best with my affinity to be a writer...no joke,since i was a teen i love to write,how weird,isnt it...i always dreamed to be a music journalist,hahaha ;)
@@MaynardGKrebs-gv4vy It's easy with a fascinating band like Tangerine Dream...their music is outstanding...and the songs they play animate to dream, to look under the surface of everything, to unleash imagination...so this is where my inspiration was from, a perfect circle...they inspire me all time new... this music has something unexplainable...kind of a secret, or something miraculous! It's alive and full of pictures, like a good movie, isn't it? 🎹🎸🎼👏👏👏😎
@@MaynardGKrebs-gv4vy All the time we are hearing them! If it's before sleep they become even the dream. I often listen to this kind of music. I have a terrible sleep mode because of Asberger. But they just play their music and I disappear...into another state of mind! And my sleep is much deeper and richer with it! Through the day it's as you say. A constant rush of reality looks more like a spectacle...falling leaves, birds flying, cars hissing by,a comet heads down from the sky, machines are rattling,a farmer cares his animals...all looks like a TD video!😂😝🤭
Tangerine dream has produced many film music this is from the film, Wavelength, I have seen the film and it was fantastic. Well done Edgar Frose and his great works.
Thank you for posting this. My introduction to Tangerine Dream was " Ricochet". Probably 1976 or so. Been a Fan ever since. Got to see them Live a few times as well.
Hi, my first TD album also at 18, still have it, now 61 - Brilliant!! Saw them twice, Dublin 1980, London Royal Albert Hall 2010, met the band after gig. Spoke to Edgar, amazin!!! RIP EF.
To me, music has a "Tantric" quality. TD reaches the full gamut of my meditative states of being...TD has so many layers of emotions, feelings, thoughts and visions, i lose myself. My 21YO son says he loves TD music because it is so "organic"... this piece is a great example of that...Tangerine Dream music is "alive". Long live Edgar in the Eternal Music Hall of Fame...and to paraphrase my favorite poet, Rilke, TD music is a presence "that will be, long after the stars are dead."! (See the poem "Buddha in Glory")...
Efectivamente es una rola muy bien concebida.Un juego equilibrado entre la armonía, la melodía y los arreglos de los secuenciadores que le dan vida. Extraordinario para los 80´s . Superado en los 90´s por ellos mismos.
Very great track very great box set tangents eine meiner besten bands tangerine dream habe alles gesammelt von tangerine dream alles an vinyl alle cds dvds box sets solos steht alles bei mir im archive liebe die band
Great that they avoided the trap of the dance/trance label. This is strangely addictive given it is quite repetitive...excellent! Masters of the music machines...
Another superb creation by the Masters. Their music transcends the normal instrumental! Again you you sent me on another journey, so where to, I do not know, but it felt " very good". Richard, I want compliment you on the video accompaniment. Aurora Borealis is my favourite natural phenomenon and you supplied footage I've never seen before. We'll done Sir, well done.
This is beautiful as the chance meeting of a dessert spoon impregnated with chocolate and a plastic bottle without a protective cap, on the edge of a devastated heath covered with weeds following a succession of bad weather caused by a depression coming from northern Europa
This is very nice but what’s missing here as opposed to the live performances is Johannes Schmoelling’s solos. They really add a lot to this piece. The OP has posted a really nice version of TD performing this live in 1980. If you type Tangerine Dream live Preston 1980 in search it will come up. I saw them live in 1980 and it is my all time favorite live show. And this was my favorite piece. It was many years before I got to hear it again via a fan tape but I recognized it immediately. It was only when Tangents came out that it had a title.
Sorry, I just now 11.12.2023 saw this video. Welcome to Finland to see these so called Northern Lights - specially in the winter time. It´s something very special. br, Pekka
It sounds like a great modern reworking of some old themes, but when I looked it up on "Voices In The Net" I see the number of versions of the "reworking" and renamings is all getting a bit mind boggling. I've got a lot of respect and appreciation for the people who keep track of it all, and bring it to us. If the whole process was a measure of the value of a band then this must be the greatest band in the history of rock, or any music for that matter. Can you imagine anyone taking the trouble to do the same thing for the Beatles, ?
whit this music you fly with your mind in the infinite space without a goal to discover new worlds and you relax a lot if you agree with me put mi piace.
I have always maintained that as good as the band were pre 80's the period that Johannes Schmoelling was present they moved up several gears. The melody here is awesome and it evokes many feelings as mentioned in comment below.
Sensationally-captured imagery. You use lasers for the light show?....No, I am just kidding. Exceptional sound and video work. Best from UK, I once just saw the edge of these from John O'Groats on the Northern tip of Scotland once, camping. Was late in May. On my motorcycle. Hey, I thought - who left the lights on all night...
Wonderful piece of music. One of the great things about TD is that their long career, many personnel and changing styles can give rise to unlimited "what if" speculation. A Franke, Baumann, Schmoelling combination anyone?
Have just read your comments and wandered how you eventually fared with Tangents? Me - I just felt that it was a lot of decent music ruined with needless overdubs that just got in the way and spoilt the mood. How could they do that? Ruined it for me. Me, the best way to hear Tang is either the original studio album or untouched bootlegs.
