Tangiwai Rail Disaster ~ 68 Years Later 

Inspired by the work of Thunderbolt 1000 Siren Productions and Fascinating Horror, I decided to make my own video about the Tangiwai rail disaster.
On Christmas Eve 1953, exactly 68 years ago (to the day), New Zealand Railways steam locomotive KA 949 derailed in the Whangaehu River while hauling an overnight express train from Wellington to Auckland. 151 people were killed, which makes Tangiwai the worst railway disaster in NZ history.
