This is it! Whisper’s ready to confront her old foe, and Tangle’s more than happy to back her up! Of course, if the bad guy knows he’s walking into a trap, he’s going to be prepared, right? Maybe this won’t be so easy, since he’s got a Badnik army backing him up!

Mimic is an awesome villain, i also like to believe that he lost his composure just for a second when he saw the playback, but got it back by the time he turned around.

Mimic is genuinely one of my favorite Sonic villains, he is the definition of "either you die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain"

Heroes die because they’re willing to risk their lives for people in trouble even when they might not know them. Professionals stay alive more often than heroes because they’re cowards that don’t stick their necks out for others without a convincing amount of money or only care about keeping themselves alive.

How do you do this? Another voice acting masterpiece. SEGA should hire you and I mean it unironically. This is more or less as good as the Adventure cast. Better than 4Kids and the modern cast for sure (Altho only two of them are still here)

6:42 I actually woulda loved it when the comic writers made whisper said "Keep on fighting until the battle's done" To reference the song "Fist Bump" in Sonic Forces. It might be a bad game, but that song just SLAPS!

2:52, that’s a major understatement. Mimic is the type of mercenary with no sense of loyalty. He only joined the Diamond Cutters to reap in the rewards they received after taking down Eggman’s bases. The moment their fight against the Doctor put his life in jeopardy, Mimic cowardly sold them out without hesitation to save his own skin. In short, he was nothing but a vile, ruthless, treacherous, and egotistical scumbag.

Tangle and the Diamond Cutters are pretty much the reason I picked up the IDW comics in the first place; I honestly hadn't looked into them before the miniseries dropped. Whisper's voice is just perfect in this, and Tangle's bubbly energy really shines through! Many, many Kudos!

I agree. I'm actually making a fan story that takes place during Frontiers. While it's a bit much to explain without knowing about my OC, a lot of it revolves around Mimic confronting his own past of being betrayed as a child in an even worse manner (his younger brother being cruelly murdered by someone they both looked up to) and also to redeem himself. Even Whisper would have felt for him.

Exactly! For a split second, it looked like he wanted to say “No, it wasn’t worth it” but refused to. Cause that would mean admitting he cared. Admitting he regretted it. Admitting he shouldn’t have done it, and he ended up killing most of his team for nothing.

Tangle and Whisper's story the first IDW I've read. Three chapters in and I gladly take wispon lasers to protect Whisper's smile. But luckily, she already has Tangle to do that for her. Tangle may be excitable and a bit reckless, but her heart is in the right place and she's definitely careful where it counts: letting Whisper open up to her at her own pace nd not teasing or prodding her for choosing solitude for this long. It reminds me a bit of what i liked about Enid Sinclair in the Netflix series "Wednesday."

Mimic says he didn't care, and he probably means it. But is it all true, or is it something he tells himself to keep himself sane? "They were gonna die anyway." "There was nothing to gain in staying." "I am a professional." Mimic probably sleeps like a baby for what he did, but selling trust out hurts your soul, even if you can't realize it.

The funny thing is about Mimic’s betrayal is that even in the winning team, he still doesn’t get off scot free. He may hide underneath the persona of a ruthless, cold blooded killer, but underneath is a coward who will try to weasel his way out in any way shape or form.

@@CracAintWack She's literally intended to be a reference to Sniper Wolf. The whole team is a reference to FOXHOUND. Mimic is Decoy Octopus, Slinger is Revolver Ocelot, obviously. Claire is Psycho Mantis, and Smithy is Vulcan Raven.

I’m glad Whisper found the strength to not sink to his level. I’ll never understand why cowards and scum get all bent out of shape when you spare them. Guess they don’t like to be proved that you’re better and stronger than them. Like Wisper said; they may try, and they will fail, and fall deeper at each time. Until they either self destruct because of their own ego or karma catches up the them. Either way it’s a downward hill slope for them. Eggman included. Also, so they didn’t become significant others here 🤔, but still the connection is enough to even deeper understanding the metal virus anguish. 😓 Also also, fantastic final voicing job! 😁🥳👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

My guess is that some irl stuff got into the way of Tangle's regular VA doing pickup for a few scenes. Honestly, I didn't even notice a difference, and I usually have a pretty sensitive ear when it comes to voice matching. (They both are great)

You can tell the writers were Metal gear fans, "2:15 you're pretty good", Whisper is a sniper whos a wolf... their team seems very FOXHOUND inspired...mimic is basically decoy octopus

The entire team is a full-on FOXHOUND reference, confirmed by the writers. Whisper = Sniper Wolf. Mimic = Decoy Octopus. Slinger, the pistol marksman is _literally_ an Ocelot. Smithy is a giant man with a chainsaw-carry BFG who is also the team's genius. And they have a psychic on the team, too.

How did I not notice it sooner? This whole thing is Metal Gear Solid reference! The platform they are fighting on is the Mother Base while Whisper's team are the Fox Hound/Diamond Dogs Unit, they even have all the animals from the cde names! Sniper Wolf, Revolver Ocelot, ect. (Mimic is Decoy Octopus but that's too obvious)
