What does the immediate future have in store for my DVD overview channel now that I’ve finished my runthrough of the Phineas and Ferb DVDs in my collection?
Well, since making those P&F videos have put me in the right mood to do so, I'll be showcasing the DVDs I have of all the OTHER television shows produced by Disney to celebrate Disney Channel's 40th anniversary on April 18, 2023!
I am going through all my collection in the order in which the shows featured on them made their television premiere, divided into three categories: Disney Television Animation productions, live-action Disney shows, and programs not made by Disney that aired in most countries on and are widely associated with Disney’s networks. It's sure to be a MAGICALLY good time!
Thanks to the four-month hiatus that this series of videos took, we’re now in the middle of July, and since “Christmas in July” is a real thing, it’s a happy coincidence that the final two titles in our chronological journey through Disney Television Animation DVDs are both filled with yuletide fun! For the second of these two releases, we’re finally wrapping the Disney TVA portion of this marathon up by paying a visit to the independent but loyal princess with hair of gold and a heart to match.
Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventures, the criminally underrated television series that continues the story of my favorite 2010s Disney movie Tangled, received two single-disc DVDs featuring one of its double-length specials (marketed as “movies”) each, before surprisingly getting its COMPLETE RUN released onto BLU-RAY last year, courtesy of the Disney Movie Club! I hope to snag a copy of that Complete Series set one of these days, but in the meantime, I have the second of the two single-disc Tangled: The Series (the show’s original name) DVDs, containing what is essentially the show’s Christmas special (as although it’s just an episode taking place in Winter, it was marketed as such a special by Disney Channel), “Queen for a Day”. The DVD was released on December 12, 2017, just one month after the special’s November 19 premiere on Disney Channel, and also contains four of the “Inside the Journal” shorts from the series that aired during commercial breaks on Disney Channel as bonus features.
Alas, it is still a very lightweight platter even with those included, since the special is only 45 minutes (again, twice the length of a typical episode of the series). With only one trailer at the beginning and a single promo at the end with “FastPlay” enabled, the disc amounts to a grand total of approximately 52 minutes’ worth of content, not even a full hour’s length. Come on, Disney: we’re well past the days of 2-episode videocassettes. Oh well, at least there’s light at the end of this tunnel, since we’ve got the full series on physical media now.

That’s it! And with this video finally out the door, we finally, FINALLY have finished our journey though all the Disney Television Animation shows I owned on DVD during Winter 2023. I’ve actually gotten a few additional Disney TVA DVDs during the 4-month hiatus between my showcases of the Kim Possible compilation DVDs and my walkthrough of Sofia the First’s first ever DVD release, and I do intend to cover those some other time. However, I want to be able to get to Disney Channel’s live-action programming while I’m still alive (only a slight exaggeration), so get one step closer each and every day, and you’ll figure out what series is being covered next on the way!
