The return journey of the "Northern Belle" from Carlisle to Leeds is seen here with 34067 in good style racing the snow-storms. Just over the summit, however, one caught up with her and she vanishes! 24/02/22
Video filmed in Cumbria.

Thank you James. Yes, even when there are not many views it's good when real fans comment, knowingly !

Well that was fortunate timing. Great shot, then the snow 😀🥶. Judging by the planting you'll be needing a new vantage point in the not too distant. . .

One reason I go there is because in a year or two it'll be useless !

My goodness, now that is challenging conditions. Perhaps the air smoothed casing does have an aerodynamic advantage in conditions like that!

Gresley reckoned that it didn't count until 60 mph, so not much chance for preserved steam :(

I see you were back in one of your favourite locations. You were the only one watching to have the full view of the train for the longest period. I did a check on the times and it was just short of 3½ minutes. Those down by the lineside had 30 seconds at best.

Yes, I like to get value for money and that is where you get the most. Normally I get a 10 sec. clip over the hill but this time it was "white-out"

Yes you do, that's a fact! Luckily the wind was at my back while waiting. Then of course, to do a 180 degree pan, you encounter it sideways!

Challenging conditions for the photographers...must be dedicated and very tough to film in such cold and wind...thanks!

Great footage Alan was your camera hand held? as l cannot envisage any other way but in the bitter and gale force conditions you did a wonderful steady job thank for sharing . I was on the platform at Hellifield and had to keep one hand as an anchor on my tripod and my other hand on my other camcorder for the passing shot, Brian
@CrossfellRailwayVideos
@CrossfellRailwayVideos 2 года назад
Thanks Brian. Yes, all my films are hand-held. I threw away the tripod when I found that I could not get it level except on a station and panning was all ways, in a field! Plus, I like to move about and change position . . . .

No, a class 57.

Thank you! This guy used to drive 47s so that was why he wasn't sure!
@railfreightdrivergallagherGBRf
@railfreightdrivergallagherGBRf 2 года назад
@@CrossfellRailwayVideos Indeed. Having driven both myself. Still give the 47s the edge on acceleration from a standing start, but 57s better at maintaining higher speed 90+. Thankfully we still have 47s at GBRf, although yet to drive one for the company. Won't be long hopefully.

@@railfreightdrivergallagherGBRf dear sir, just so as you know i used to be a driver over at Wimbledon park (march 1988-nov1999) and also worked out of Woking...8/9s, 33s, 47s, 50s, 73s and various EPB stock. those were good days, but as it is now not so sure I would want to go back. all has now changed so much....
