My recent Aerial Silk piece from "One World, One Show",a benefit performance for YMCA youth programs. Most ambitious routine yet at 7 min. I must say I am very proud! Music: "Tango" by Chris Murphy chrismurphymusic.com/
Mini McCusker I guess you really are not too old to start something, I really want to start figure skating, but I am 18 and thought I was way to old, but maybe if you can do aerial silks at 50 I can do ice skating.Your comment just gave me a boost of confidence. And this performance was beautiful!
I hate how the really GREAT and mesmerizing silks performances on youtube don't have many views like this but loads of technical and boring routines get more views....:/
Laura Dasi and now over 350k! Laura you are an inspiration! I strictly did pole, and after watching more aerial dance performances (this one in particular), I decided to branch out into all aerial ❤ thank you for what you do!
Thank you. In my opinion, aerial arts are another form of dancing, an extension of that discipline and training. It's so much fun to play with and defy gravity!
Thank you! I don't follow any particular diet other than to try to eat healthy, natural foods, not too much sugar or processed food with added chemicals. My mother is also very petite so I am genetically thin. Embrace who you are and appreciate your unique beauty and strength!
Wow, Laura, that is one of the most beautiful performances I have ever seen. What grace, strength and sensuality. Bravo!!! Thank you so much for sharing this with me. What a joy to watch.
Beautiful! I just started aerial silks a year ago and felt so clumsy, but this video motivates me to continue! It's not just figures in the air, as teh others have already said - it's a cocktail of figures, movements and flow that combine into a dance:) Bravo!
Laura OMG!!! Watching your videos inspires me to keep training on silks. I just started 3 months ago and I hope to someday be able to move as gracefully as you do! So beautiful and elegant!!! ❤️
WOW! I have been doing ballet for 12 years now (non-professional) and have started training in pole and silks. This is absolutely stunning! The strength that you have with this is incredible. The last drop was breathtaking; what was the name of it (I want to learn it :)? I saw your other video from 2015 and both dances have such grace and strength. I have watched a lot of silk performances on youtube and I like your's the best; your ballet background really shines through all of your transitions. A lot of other silk performers have choppy transitions when preparing for a drop or wrapping themselves in the silk for their next pose/move (I have no room to speak as I am the choppiest of them all as I am only a beginner in silks lol, just making an observation); having dance under your belt really shows through as there are no moments of choppiness or hesitation. Throughout the entire 7 minutes there are no awkward preparations and pauses while you're wrapping yourself in the silk; everything looks effortless!!
I am just learning myself and I'm going to take a thing or two from your transitions. It's beautiful how you make everything so seamless and meaningful. This just just proves that you don't have to be super aggressive or fast to have a beautiful performance.
I recently started silks and this is one of my most favorite performances I've seen!! I've been a salsa/Latin dancer for 10 years, so it is SOOO awesome to see it tied into silks...this is such a gorgeous and creative routine, truly like a dance =o) different than anything I've come across yet! Lovely
Thank you! Glad you appreciate the dance-like quality of my performance. To me, aerial arts is about so much more than doing a bunch of tricks. One needs to convey emotion, tell a story.
I just came across this video after watching something else. This piece is very well choreographed to the music with excellent form throughout. Lots of beautiful leg lines evoke the feeling of tango. Nothing excessive or extraneous. I appreciate seeing quality over flashy moves that are poorly executed, as is the case so often these days.
AMAZING! I just love love love your performance. I'm gonna show this video to my aerial silk group as an example of perfection. I hope one day be as good as you!! thanks for sharing!
Laura you are so beautifull!I´m also an aerialist and you are a big inspiration! The way you dance with the silk is so full of life and feelings...you have a perfect technic but also much more than that! Thanks so much for your art!If you ever come to Portugal, please let me know,i would really love to meet you!Patrícia
Your endurance is insane. I've been doing silks for about nine months now and I love it, but I so do not have a 7 minute routine in me yet! Lovely performance!
+accordingtosam Thanks! The endurance is something you have to build. If you don't do this already, I would suggest that at the end of a class or training session put on a song and improvise on the silks. See if you can stay up there for the entire song then gradually increase your air time with longer songs. Really gives you a chance to figure out transitions, how to pace yourself and be creative.
Wow, I've seen a few of your other perfomances, and they are so captivating! I love every second of them! I've only recently started the silks and I hope I can reach your standards someday, so I can make others as happy as you do. :)
I feel like your dancing with the silks and not just on it . I love this piece . If I may ask for practice would it be easier to have my hair up or down ? Thank you
+Tiff Thank you! This is one of my favorite routines to perform...so much emotion. It seems that everyone has a different name of everything bit I call the last drop Lola.
