Virgina Uva and Pedro Benavente (El Indio) dancing on the market square in Plaza Dorrego of San Telmo, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
It would be just as difficult to describe the way they danced as to tell of how Estonian rye bread tastes to someone who has never tried it. The little what I know of tango is that originally it comes from a mix of three cultures -- the rhythm is from Africa, the dance is a combination of European and American indigenous cultures. Tango today is said to have so many schools and forms that it would take a thorough study to even begin to track them down.
The particular contemporary dance seen in the video is not at all a typical argentine tango but feels quite eccentric with a hint of Slavic folk elements integrated into both the melody and movements.
