I have this set and I like it, but I agree with your assessment. I'm not sensitive to high frequencies, but they can rise excessively for other people. My only caveat with this set is the same one you mention in your review: the lack of impact. I tried using an EQ but not in advance, it loses control quickly and doesn't deliver the desired result. In any case, this set is not an upgrade from the regular version (another problem) and for 21 dollars it may be more interesting to save a little more and invest in a more capable set in the 100 dollar range. Thanks for the review!
Thanks for the review, wonder what Tangzu was aiming to accomplish with the SE. I still enjoy my original Wan'er but much prefer my Kiwi Ears Cadenza when it comes to an inexpensive single DD iem. The Cadenza has much better bass, less forward mids and a more open sound. By comparison my Wan'er sounds a bit warm and bloated and ends up back in the drawer pretty quickly.
Thanks for the impressions. I think with the SE they were trying to give an alternate to your criticism and well at least they tried. I do like the og Wan'er for what it is, pretty decent for the price tag.
Dave, appreciate 🙏 your dedication that you purchase it with your own money, but I have had enough with $100 budget IEMs yet not willing to spend any over $300 for an IEMs.
@@woka_kawanua-hw2hj Felt the same way after trying Moondrop Chu II, Simgot EW200, and the 7hz zero. Then I found the Truthear Zero Red, and that hit the spot with the desired bass and exceptional mids. Like the man says there's plenty to choose, just make sure you can return them while you're on the hunt.
