The best tank mates for the Salvini Cichlid are Central American Cichlids. These are similar fish from the same natural waterways. It should be known that almost all sicklids do have some aggression especially when it comes to breeding and pairing up with mates.
When keeping these fish with tank mates it’s very important to look at your fish on a daily basis to make sure that nobody is being picked on. When keeping Cichlid Community Aquariums like this usually there’s a fish that is getting picked on and there is the aggressor on the other side of it.
It’s also a good idea to have a back up aquarium that you can put fish into when they get beat up. You can then medicate the fish or if the aggression is so bad that you need to rid of it you can put that fish in your extra aquarium. It does suck to have an extra aquarium just laying around like that but it’s a great idea and I always tell people to do so.
