Im gonna say this watching both seasons i understand the reason why Tao is the way he is it still doesn't make it right. The excuse of hes a teenager doesn't fly because the behavior was borderline toxic. He was so in what he thought was right that he basically disregarded what Charlie has been telling him the whole time when it comes to Nick and is the reason why he doesn't know anything at this point.
The thing is Tao doesn’t know Nick and doesn’t see him being nice to Charlie cos Nick and Charlie only spent time together by themselves. All Tao see is Nick not doing anything when Harry bullies other people. He gets better next season!

@lelohverse hahah I live! I get where the defense comes from (I've finished season 2), but even they have to admit, if it was happening to them, it would be irritating! Lol can't wait for part 3!
FINALLY someone who is just as done with Tao as I was the first time I watched Heartstopper (and every time after that. it never gets easier to listen to him) Most people try to pass him off as "just being protective" but there is a difference between protective and possessive. I'm also so glad you pointed out that Tao was telling Charlie how they were going to do things for Charlie's birthday. Like. What the actual f- Its something I noticed throughout this season is Tao simply does not trust Charlie to make his own choices. He treats him like a baby, he crushes him every time he's happy, and then wonders why Charlie didn't tell him about Nick. Truly the most obnoxious character of the first season next to Harry and Benana. Thankfully he gets less irritating in the second season. Nick and Charlie are always cute and they only get cuter. Like truly the greatest, sweetest, most supportive couple of all time ever idk how we haven't all collectively melted from watching them. Really enjoying your reactions, they're such a mood and incredibly entertaining. 100/10 looking forward to your reactions to the rest of the show~
you did not just put tao, ben and harry in the same boat.... i get that you're annoyed at tao but he's not a bad kid lmao, his actions are coming from a place of love and protection. think about it, if a friend of yours got terribly bullied the previous year, even tho it's over you see that it's had a impact on your friend, you want to help him out and protect him. now from tao's perspective, he's seeing a guy who is in a friend group that is similar to the one that bullied charlie, he's seeing this and he's line "i dont know anything about nick but im not gonna trust him" tao thinks he's making friends with charlie just to bully him, humiliate him. now we as a viewer know that nick would never but tao doesn't. it's better to be careful and stay on guard in that case and tbh.... even nick understands what tao feels. now the whole abandoment issue i can't talk about because thats spoilers for s2, but tao's def not anywhere near harry and ben's level lmao, bit extreme.
