This tapestry crochet tutorial shows you how to do tapestry crochet using some slightly different stitches to usual. These are tr2tog (UK terms) or dc2tog (US terms), and making two tr (or dc in US terms) in the same stitch.
As you'll see, by using these stitches, you can get a much smoother outline to your tapestry crochet patterns and shapes.

Hi Catherine- is it possible to apply this technique to a chart/graph. If so ,how ie: XXXX YY XXXX XXX YY YY YYXX

Hi, I've done that in a few of my patterns. I find the clearest way is to use the actual stitch symbols for e.g. dc2tog, or 2 dc in same stitch, and then colour them to match the yarn colour for each stitch. I tend to superimpose it all over a grid too, as that helps with seeing how it all lines up. Hope that helps!

i understand the yarns need to be where they are suppose to be, but what happens if the yarn is twisted even though in the right order? would the project be pulled to one side or the other?

Hi, thanks for your question. No, I don't think that the yarns being twisted would pull the project to one side or another. Provided the carried yarn isn't too tight in the work, the project shouldn't be pulled at all, regardless of any twisting. However, it's hard to say for sure without knowing the exact situating/how the yarn is twisted. Hope that helps a bit!
