Dude, I played taps on my guitar for memorial day, cause I wanted to do something that meant something. And I couldn't get through the recording. I blubbered like a baby every time I tried. Eventually, I made it, but it was hard.
I've played "Taps" on trumpet for a few military funerals. But nothing brings tears to my eyes honoring fallen warriors more than bagpipes. "Taps" on bagpipes equals 😭😭 for me.
Gives me chills. I have the utmost respect for the buglers who attend to our Veterans. But the Bagpipes have a special place in my heart. Semper Fi! 🇺🇸
Adam Henderly I did at North Ga.College in the '80's . There were 2 separate car wrecks of students returning to campus in '83 and 6 out of 7 students were killed, including my boyfriend's younger sister. A young man played "Taps" and also played "Amazing Grace" at the Memorial on the drillfield. On 2/'84, my dad died and at his funeral, a member of the Shrine Band-my dad was a Mason-played "Amazing Grace" at his funeral. Charlie also played them at my mother's funeral. When I returned to campus, the student theatre was playing "Start Trek" movies and when Scotty played "Amazing Grace" for Spock, I cried because it was not only sad but beautiful.
How could people dislike this this is for Fallen soldiers to everyone who just like this I just want you to know that you dislike something for remembering people who give you the right to dislike
bring back a lot of memories being on the uss missouri (bb-63) from 11/13/1990 to 3/31/1992, underway or not at 22:00 that means taps, over the loud speaker, each night taps would play and after that lights are out, as we all sleep our worries away.
my grandma and nana were both born in scotland and moved to canada during ww2. when they both passed we had pipers at their funeral. as sad of a day it was it was a beautiful way for it to come to an end.
As a former SSgt vet and gulf contractor, to the public of usa, your vets pay for our freedoms and u need to call your congressman to pay for their war injuries by budgeting for the care at Vet. Hospitals. I got shot 8 times and we'll taken care of in 2012. Dec 4, 2015 I couldn't walk on leg with bullet fragments and wasn't even offered a crutch, cane or kiss my rear. MY FIRST APPS MADE DEC 7 IS FOR JAN 20TH. please support the vets by calling congressmen.
I'm a Vet of the US Army 2005-06, I have major nerve damage in my left leg, and can barely walk. I have had to fight for everything I have gotten from the VA. so I know exactly how you feel Michael, and thank you for your contribution. I'm still fighting just to get basic services.
Many years ago I attended the funeral of a retired Air Force Colonel. Retired since about 1980. He actually wore the Army Uniform for a while before the USAF became a separate service. Flew combat missions in Korea and was a Squadron Commander in Vietnam. After his retirement worked as a civilian in the A-10 program at Edwards AFB and then was part of the A-10 integration after testing. I've seen his Official USAF photo and his fruit salad was large. At his funeral, there was a single bagpiper. The one that got me was Amazing Grace. Then I started to hear some aircraft approaching. I started to hear "abide with me" playing on the bagpipes as four A-10s did the missing man flyover. Both of his sons dropped to their knees crying. Honestly by this time I was having problems standing. They don't call that aircraft the Warthog for nothing. It is one of the ugliest aircraft in the USAF inventory! However, ask some troops how beautiful they are when they come to your rescue!
My papa past away a long time a go but i am not sad now but he was in the air force but when we had is memorial i cried a lot because him and i had a good relationship 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Amazing. I've just been looking for a death notice of a Miss Duffy. She was a pretty student teacher at my Primary School so very long ago. I had a crush on her and often waited near the school gate to impress her with my 'highlander' toy soldiers. She once stopped to admire them. I was too shy to speak. One day she never appeared. At assembly that morning I was shattered to learn that Miss Duffy had been killed in a car accident. Her memory lives on.

No. I think bugle or a Bb trumpet is worthy of this song. It was a bugle that played this song was it not? Not a flute, flugelhorn, or a french horn right? Surely not a reed instrument.
The bagpipes are so bad I half expected the sound to reanimate the dead so they could tear this guy to shreds and crawl back into their graves for some sleep
Why are they bad ? It's the most difficult of all instruments to learn - they are only bad when they are played by someone who hasn't been taught properly, or hasn't practised. This piper is good and his pipes sound in tune.
