Taqah Castle is in Taqah city 35 km east of Salalah, Dhofar Oman. The castle is on top of a hill overlooking the beautiful village. It was built in 19th century and was the former residence of Sheikh Ali bin Taman Al Ma’shani, the grandfather of the mother of Sultan Qaboos. The castle was later on acquired by the government during the time of Sultan Said bin Taimur, the father of Sultan Qaboos. In 1994 the castle was opened to the public as a museum. It exhibits different displays of cookwares and weapon that shows Omani's old way of living.
Taqah Fort is the one that can be found on the foot of the hill. It was made as a museum with an entrance fee of 500 baizas. The fort is open from Saturday to Thursday from 9am to 4pm and on Friday from 8am to 11am.
However when we visited it was close.
