I am reviewing the 23g version and as the name says they are 95% tungsten and have a gold and black PVD coating and come fitted with the Target Ti Heli shafts and the Target black fire Swiss Points. Is knurl making a comeback?

I'm currently using the Unicorn p5. They won't last forever so I'm looking for something similar. Same length , grip and slightly tapered to the front. Are these close ?

Hmm, my bests dart is harrows predator, but its time to change something. This rvb or the new target rvb echo should be a good choice? I'm a front gripper, looking to something similar like harrows predator. Forgive me for my bad english.

Harrows Predator are my best darts too but I am really liking the new Unicorn Ballista but I think any RVB darts are pretty good for a front grip :)

These look amazing and they’ll definitely be a purchase. I think the knurled section on the looks great, my fingers would probably be on the last knurled section. If they don’t work for me they’d be nice for my collection anyway. Fantastic review Darren 👍🏻🎯

Just bought this dart 23g, cant wait till it comes! As a front gripper this is exactly what ive been trying to find, where the grip covers the ridge into the point- which is where I grip. On the pricey side but its barney so who cares

When I used to play darts I always used darts with a knurled grip I couldnt grip ringed barrels What astonishes me is the price of darts now the last set of darts I bought cost me £20 about 15.yrs ago Sadly due to failing eyesight I no longer play

Darts have got a lot more expensive than 15 years ago sadly. But there is still plenty of great value darts available if you know where to look. Sorry about your eyesight. I will be making a video in the future about a guy who was blind and had no hands yet still found a way to play darts, if the heart is strong there is always a way :)

Darren; really good review. I don't like knurled darts; didn't like them in the 80's and definitely not now. I have a set of his previous version of his 95 darts and love them. Additionally, Target is getting ridiculous with the pricing on their new darts; extremely high. Seems like they are trying to fleece their customer base (my opinion).

Thanks! Target have always had high prices, nothing new in that, I know the other channel went on and on in every review about them price gouging etc but really we all know their prices have always been higher and especially on players darts. Why they seem extra higher than usual, I dont know the real reasons, but looking at it objectively I am sure the covid problem has played a bigger part than we think and more recently shipping container prices have gone to crazy extremes, what was once £1600 for a 40foot container shipped this time last year is now over £10,000 at present and still rising even more. I think prices are going to rise even more in coming months, not even sure Harrows will be able to keep as reasonable as they usually do once their stock of tungsten is run out, next year could be a very very bad time for darts buyers but also for many other products as the energy prices are increasing too. Pretty woeful all told.

Good review as usual. Target produces some really great looking darts. Of course, that is off set by the really ugly prices they also produce. I'm still working to convince myself (and the wife) on buying the Daytona Fire GTs.....

those darts are in my opinion one the best and one of the most expensive darts on the market. I have an older edition (Gen3 or 2 I am not 100% certain) in 25g version and i am really satisfied with them. Because my wrist became ache due to injuries suffered in the past so I had to switch for something lighter but I am sure I'll be playing with them later once my wrist is getting stronger...

So you are certainly a fan of them then :) I was aching all over when reviewing these, think I have been doing too much throwing lately and starting to pay the price, just hope it does not start the old flare ups as may take a few weeks to heal if so. Its no fun having aches and pains affecting your darts playing, hope you get better soon :)

@@DartsReviewChannel the most of time I am ok when I start to throw with relaxed wrist I am accurate and consistent however after while the wrist tries to tell me that I would be more careful and when I am more careful i am still accurate but not consistent.

Decent looking dart, not my fav by Barney. Don't know about the knurl and why Target would go to this style knowing knurl isn't that popular. But if u throw well with them that's all that really matters. Good vid once again. Cheers.

People think knurl should be left on 80's darts and super cheap darts, think thats the big problem for them really. I think they look good but I do agree the price is off putting for sure :)

Maybe, it certainly does not feel like a normal knurl though but difficult to get that across to some, they need to try them. But after all Barney does usually have an input into his own darts so that must say something 🙂

@@DartsReviewChannel most likely.have gen 2. Skipped gen 3. Although pricey will last a lifetime. Compared to golf clubs for example they are cheap and would get a lot more use.

Possibly the most divisive dart this launch. £100 for a knurled dart will make some cringe. Honestly, I think they look good. Not great, but good. The gold on the knurl looks good, and the greyish black rear compliments. Reminds me a lot of the Corey Cadby barrels.

Idk...for me this new RvD dart doesn´t look too exciting. Absolutely not a fan of the knurled grips, my ideal Barney dart is the RvB95 Gen 2 with the V-Stream grip from the Elysian 3 and the Carrera models.

@@DartsReviewChannel Yeah, but I guess knurled darts always look "cheap" due to the fact that cheap beginners darts often are knurled ones, the ones that you can get for a fiver a set or come included with the board. Those darts. By the way, the Target Aspar doesn´t seem to hold well. Already looks worse than the Samurai II after lots of darts. The black paint doesn´t seem to hold well . Target disappointed me with their 2021 launch...except the Nastri darts which I´ve already ordered.

@@chrisf1604 yeah I know what you mean, and I think that is partly the issue with peoples perceptions of knurl grip, like I say in video I am not keen on it usually but when its like on these darts its fine and also the darts I got my first two 180s and one and only ever treble bullseye was a straignt barrel ring knurl dart lol. Aspar is not healing the holes from what I can tell, will give it a bit longer to see if its just a bedding in issue, other than that though I have had no problems with darts dropping out or unusual hard spots with darts not sticking but going to report on it properly soon.

Much better player when u don’t look at ur hands when switching darts from your holding hand to the throwing hand Darren mate , I do like the look of barneys darts but they just don’t appeal to me to purchase same with Phil Taylor’s just don’t do it for me lol

@@DartsReviewChannel : must be strange throwing so many sets of darts and remembering how you throw in 1st place especially with certain darts we’re using ur own grip could be a problem but u do have a lovely throwing action 😊 I’ve just been having a little throw there just to put a video or 2 up on my RU-vid channel feel slightly achy myself we’re all abit poorly in this house especially my little girl

@@Chelskie-darts I really dont think its a good idea to swap and change all the time, even when people are top players like Peter Wright who we know does it often, but I think for most its best to stick to one set, however now and then a change can help keep things from getting a bit stale, not to the extent I change though lol. Saw your video the other day, I like you keep it natural and simple, I think its the best way, less to think about and less to go wrong. How you all feel better soon, think I am just aching as I have been doing too much lately, need a rest. How is the knee doing?

@@DartsReviewChannel : I got a letter from my surgeon last week he thinks it’s best for knee joint replacement (full knee replacement) but because of my age they reluctant to go ahead right now because if it fails I’m not gonna be able to walk or very little so that would mean my darts would be affected massively as it’s my front standing leg 🤷🏽‍♂️ plus with twins gonna be here 11th November (planned C-section) best I wait afew years until then 2 and Thea my daughter is older otherwise our lass will be left to pick all pieces up , I’ll get there tho I’ll be fine 😃 I’ll have to have a pop over another time in next few weeks before baby’s are here for a game with u if u want , loving all your reviews lately 👌🏽 hope ur feeling better ASAP also mate poorly or just achey it’s not good for no1 lol , I think a self taught player like myself is best to keep it simple so I don’t overthink as much or over complicate my game but sometimes it still happens but I just go again the next day to correct anything 😊

@@Chelskie-darts sounds a bit like what my brother in law was like, they said similar things and he never got his sorted, he is a lot older know though but in some ways I think its strange that they often feel happier operating on older people for things like that than younger ones, its surely the younger ones that need it most? Good luck with the new arrivals though! :) Think I am going to be crazy busy for the next few weeks but you can come over and have a look at the new gear and a quick throw if you want :)

Somebody tried to use lots of different patterns and finishes on one dart, hideous dart and hideous price. Your review is so much better than the dart but it’s a no from me

Like the look of these darts but the price is absolutely ridiculous and bearing in mind your lucky to get a year out alot of the recent target darts I won't be buying a set.

@@DartsReviewChannel Alot of the carrera darts and phil taylor darts the grip wears really quickly. When your spending that type of money you'd expect them to last longer than they do.

Ah yes grip will wear but how quickly depends on a few things, no grip will ever be long lasting if you are of a high level, play a lot with lot's of close grouping though, even so MVG's darts are well worn but they served him well for years.

@@DartsReviewChannel its true, but i simply refuse to pay this type of money for a basic coating, basic mashined dart. 50+ quid for 95% of non-Japanese darts is ridiculous as is.

@@med640 I agree to some extent but dont think its simply as cut and dried as that and its not quite that basic, applying knurl is not an easy process on 95% tungsten, thats why custom made darts refuses to offer it even though he gets many requests to do it. But realistically with a high profile players name, 95% tungsten and gold and black pvd coatings you are always going to be paying more than £50 but perhaps £65 to £70 at best would have been a better price range.

Old Barneys darts maded by Grandslam are much better and cheaper darts , still avaliable for about 40 € which is aprox 32 - 33 £ . These recent darts are ugly and overpriced as well . I think neather Rocky The Main Star dont like them .

and that is the main issue for many it seems, so what realistically would you say they should cost bearing in mind they are 95% tungsten, a high profile players dart and with gold and black ti coatings?

@@DartsReviewChannel I do believe the price of tungsten took a severe jump in price as did most metals . Price of steel over here increased 40% last year and has climbed higher since.

Do not like the knurling or the shaft on that style of dart. I’m sorry, but i think it hurts the overall aesthetics of the dart; not something I would pay $160 for. Honestly, I like the look, feel, and price of the RVB Gen 3’s much better. Next up the Hema’s 👍🏻

$89-$95 seems fair, the packaging and quality of materials used are excellent.

Well, Target have done it again... A knurled dart that costs more than 100£. What an achievement. Never seen before in darts.. ;)

Knurling, especially on a curved surface like the front nose is extremely difficult to produce, from an engineering point of view. Especially on a 95% tungsten that is meant to be very hard. That's why you see most custom made darts shops not offering the 'below average' knurling. So I guess Target had to design a special tool to achieve that .... hence the price. + they are RVB darts, so not a surprise to me.
