The singers in Tulkoon Joulu (Let Christmas come) were, Tarja (you knew that one obviously), JP Leppäluoto (the one with the long hair tied up), Antti Railio (the guy with the long hair and a beard) and Kimmo Blom (the guy with the short hair. Unfortunately he passed away some time ago). In the live chat I talked a bit about how Kimmo and Antti were in the Voice of Finland. I don't know if that is really where more people got to know about them, but that's how I first heard them sing. Antti actually won the the second season. Kimmo didn't win but he was in the finals (4th season). Kimmo was in Michael Monroe's team (Michael Monroe is another rock legend in Finland). Tarja was a coach in the seasons 4 and 5, her team actually won both of those seasons. Raskasta Joulua is a Christmas concert tour that takes place in Finland. The singers are metal/rock singers and they are mainly from Finland but there are few from elsewhere like Elize Ryd and Floor Jansen. They sing famous Christmas songs with a metal twist. They usually sing in Finnish or English but for example Elize and Tony have sang in Swedish. Tarja has taken apart in it at least in 2017 (where she sang for the first time with Marko after leaving Nightwish) and 2018.

Rock In Peace Kimmo 😞 (Kimmo also played the part of Freddie Mercury in Queen musical Show Must Go On in Tampere Music Theatre and while I didn't see it myself, everyone said Kimmo was phenomenal in that role).

Thanks so much for reacting to this entire video for me. And no worries, I appreciate honesty, then I appreciate positive opinions all the more. Tony has a beautiful voice, but Tarja would really overpower him here. But I still love the combination of Tarja and Tony's voice like in Beauty and the Beast. Tony has a completely different energy than Marko, but they are both a great match for her. Tarja is always like a bundle of energy. Even with Tony holding her, she still needs to move.:) I also really like Walking in the Air in this arrangement. It was another Christmas performance when Tarja took off one shoe and threw the other off and sang barefoot. She is funny. Unfortunately, I don't know the singers from the last song at all, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying it. They sound incredible together. It's great that they have this great metal Christmas tour in Finland. I don't know if I caught everything right, because of my bad English, but Tarja's Christmas concerts in Europe are different from Raskasta Joulua. In the first case, they are clearly Tarja's events of classic somewhat gothic concerts, mostly with a philharmonic orchestra, while Raskasta Joulua's rock ones are, I think, in Finland only and they are not Tarja's concerts. She is one of the rotating guests there. But maybe someone from Finland would describe it better.

You already described Raskasta Joulua tour pretty well and it's only in Finland. Every year, the tour has a core group consisting of the same singers and in addition to them, guest performers In the last song there are singers from this group. The second guitarist is Erkka Korhonen, who founded this music project already in 2004 and the tours started the following year

if you haven't heard it, you may want to check out Tarja and Marko's version of Ave Maria. that was their actual first reunion from about 2017, maybe 16. Also Tarja has an album of several different renditions of Ave Maria. It's not one song, but many songs written by several different composers. Tarja also wrote her own version of Ave Maria which is on that album. I believe they also sing the last song of this reaction together as well with some others.

You are absolutely right about uplifting. Finns are bit reserved, but i have never seen so much positive vibe in the audience before and during concert. They have found something really special. There are like really young kids and 80 years old granmas side by side. Hard core metalheads wearing studded leather jackets and business men in their Boss suits. Men women, dogs, elephants...everybody seems to find something important out of this show.

The last song tells about very different people, let the Christmas come for prisoners and everyone and there are pictures of different people but also of previous artists like Marko. This is not Tarja's project, it is a project of a vast and changing group of heavy metal artists and Tarja happened to be there this time, Floor and Marko have been like Elyse Ryd also. This varieting group tours every late autumn through Finland and is very popular, ordinary people love listening and singing with them all together

Marko is one of the regulars at Raskasta Joulua. Not sure if you want to save some of these for Christmas, but Jeppe Jeppinen has some videos with his English translation added from Raskasta Joulua with Marko included at www.youtube.com/@Corca/videos

You could try Marko Hietala's Ave Maria duet with Floor or Tarja. I don't think he gets overpowered quite as much as Tony Kakko did here. 😀(Although Tony is a great singer too. Check out some Sonata Arctica if you haven't already. "Full Moon", "White Pearl, Black Oceans", and "Tallulah" are good ones.)

The first singer of the last song is JP Leppäluoto, who has the best voice in Finland, in my opinion. And he's a super great guy, too. His plethora of work (Charon, Harmaja, Dark Sarah, Northern Kings, his solo work) is absolutely worth checking out. And the third singer of that song, Kimmo Blom, unfortunately passed away last year from illness. R.I.P., Kimmo.

If you want to hear an amazing rendition of "Walking in the Air", I recommend you check out Jarkko Ahola's version (link here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WqBSDB5oHug.html ). You already know about Tarja, and Marco, and Noora Louhimo from Battle Beast. But your journey through contemporary Finnish singers would not be complete without the Jarkko "Metal God" Ahola. The man is a phenom.

I prefer the Ave Maria with Tarja and Marko for all the emotions (maybe you can save that one for Christmas) but in both this and the one with Marko she really holds back vocally in a way she usually doesn't with Ave Maria, probably to avoid overpowering the other singer too much. So yeah, vocally it's probably my least favourite of the many beautiful Ave Marias Tarja has done but my goodness, when she sang it with Marko the emotional aspect of it really elevated it to another level.

Tony Kakko has a very dramatic, big voice, I think it's peculiar that he chose to perform in such a soft, lullaby-like way, specially when dueting with Tarja, whom he knows has a huge, massive voice. They do sound great together, on other compositions, but it is true that he felt a little ill fitting on Ave Maria. Definitely not his comfort zone. And do never apologize for disliking a performance, and expressing so. This is just music after all, it's supposed to be fun, is never gonna be that serious.

Raskasta joulua is not Tarja's own thing, i dont know if you knew this or not, but i got the feeling you didnt? :) Every year sold out in Finland happening of metal singers doing exactly this.

Tulkoon Joulu (the third one). As a kid, this was one of the cringy religious Christmas songs that used to just annoy me. I was wrong; it is awesome.

If I had to choose, Pieni Rumpali (Little Drummer Boy), "Tonttu", "Joululaulu", and "Kehtolaulu" (which is actually a version of Silent Lucidity by Queensrÿche, dedicated to the memory of one of their singers Kimmo Blom, as Silent Lucidity was one of his favourite songs. There's a video of them performing it for the first time and god is it emotional.)

I actually prefered Tony Kakko on Ave Maria. Tarja is part of my Nighwish youth for sure and i like the color of her voice. But still :)

8:40 I agree. While I absolutely love Tony Kakko (We even grew up in the same street), he is admittedly outclassed by Tarja in Ave Maria, with her being a classically trained opera singer, so it's just not a great pairing for this kind of song.
