I was there! Nobody expected her to play this one, it was such a big surprise, I couldn’t recognize the song first and I remember screaming at my friend “WHAT IS THIS? I KNOW IT SO WELL BUT WHAT IS THIS???!!!” 😀😀😀😀
This is like the "mother" of all Nightwish's long symphonic songs with full orchestral backrounds, and Century Child was the transition from Nightwish's early style into what they became after, with "Once"... Tuomas was at the peak of his creativity then, in my opinion... A Very underrated song!!! I think Tarja should have a professionally recorded Live version of this one, because she still sings it to perfection here (maybe someday as a special guest in a Nightwish concert... I know I'm already dreaming ahahah, but who doesn't?) :D
I' m happy to get to see her when she was at her best, twice with orchestra in Miskolc and Zlín, here, Masters OF Rock, both events in 2010. ARTMANIA, 2011, Sibiu, Romania. Then, her in Slovakia in 2012. I got to hear my fav NW songs - this one, here, Angels Fall First, End Of All Hope, Bless The Child. Met her twice, she is so down-to-earth, not the diva at all! :-) Also, a particular story: I managed to get a setlist from one of her concerts., it was given to me, but then security followed me, they have told me I stole it. However, it was given to me. Dispute closed short by Tarja - she signed my setlist. She is the best!
All of my songs can only be composed of the greatest of pains, every single verse can only be born of the greatest of wishes, I wish I had one more night to live... Genius Tuomas... trully a saddened soul...
I loved it. A great song, a great singer. I discover Nightwish like ten years ago, but even when I change my musical taste and barely hear old bands that I used to like, Tarja become a place to always going back. I just love her voice, her songs with Nightwish and her first two albums alone. Can't help it.
I discovered Nightwish-Floor through Wacken 2013. And Nightwish-Annette and Nightwish-Tarja albums and DVDs/Blu Rays subsequently. In my case, I now go back to Nightwish-Tarja era albums and concerts the most. Love all her solo stuff and collaborations too.

Yes, and she nailed it to perfection! Just WoW! She should record a professional Live version of this! One of the Best Nightwish songs EVER! Very underrated in my opinion!

As much as I appreciate the beauty of this rendition, I'm really missing Marko's part here, the harmony made by Tarja and Marko during the second half of the song is just breath taking.
She proves a huge point the way she holds everyone's attention and has complete control with her 'solo'+band stuff. Nightwish definitely made a mistake..... Not everyone will agree of course.
What band is Tarja playing now with? For me she always the best vocalist in Nightwish! She is like Queen of the Night. She give wish to us and make them true! I love her voice so much. ;)
She wanted more freedom, so she hasn't formed a band since. But she often have many of the same guys. For example Max Lilja (ex Apocalyptica member) is playing cello almost anywhere where Tarja goes. Alex Scholpp with the lead guitar and Christian Kretschmar with the keyboard have also been a long time with her and still are.
@CharmingAngel93 You misunderstood me I didin't deny that Tuomas wrote songs, he wrtote them but they belongs to Nightwish, and part of Nightwish when Beauty of the Beast was born was Tarja, she also gave it a piece of her soul.

@GOTHIKKOALA perdon q me meta pero no es una pelea a ver quien canta mejor, esta a la vista no? son estilos diferentes, esta bien q apoyes a Anette pero no te pongas a hacer una critica de cual canción es mas dificil o facil de cantar, no tenes idea..a Anette no le da la voz ni el aire para cantar las canciones viejas de NW, xq fueron hechas para Tarja, y por eso las nuevas canciones fueron hechas para Anette!Punto.
It may be Tuomas' creation, but Tarja has every right to sing it too, the same way as Nightwish play their old songs. I agree that the music isn't as amazing as in the original song, however she isn't the only one who deforms their songs; can you bear listening the old songs sung by Annette?

@HarrowingWinter Read once again what I've written. I only said that these songs have been written in Tarja's Era and I didn't say that they are Tarja. What I wrote was irony through your comment. And once more for you "Tarja was a part of Nightwish when those songs have been written", on every Nightwish album we can see "Nightwish" so these songs belong to Nightwish and she doesn't steal songs, she also gave those song a part of her soul when songs has been making.
Blah, blah, blah And Tuommy Boy should be thanking Tarja for all his remaining life as well. Without the combination of his music and her voice - Nightwish would never have been.

There is not the same spirit and emotions than it was before,when she allmoust flying on to the stage when she sang NW.Tarja´s band members just playing without any spirit and emotions.For me Nightwish is still the BAND who enjoy playing together and put all cards on to the table.I dont want to blame Tarja she is the the one only,and her voice is unique all the best for her solo carrier.I hope she is now happier than NW the end times,and enjoy sing like NW times.Sorry my brutal english
Tarja is always cool :) She does the old NW songs for the fans. I like it :) And BTW...what I know , I Walk Alone is not that similar to Tuomas work. And the one who wrote it wasn't Tarja, Tarja is Tarja. Her songs are a lot more feminine and veiling the anger of separation with NW compared to Tuomi's lyrics. While Tuomi is a lot masculine, a lot frontal, like in Bye-Bye Beautiful. I don't know why so many composers of a band firing their frontwomen, or vague reason. But I still love Tuomi
@nelbelmont jaja tal cual... el domingo hizo EL concierto en el Luna.. cantó Signos de Soda.., hizo el cover living on a prayer ..entre otros.. asi q Tarja puede cantar hasta el arroz con leche si quiere, q lo canta excelente.. anette q se dedique a cantar los nuevos temas de NW q para eso le pagan...^^ y por cierto.. se los trago la tierra.. q no se sabe nada de ellos!Q pasó? ya no los sigue la gente? xD
oh and "tuomas is everything in the band" well, i dont see him singing, playing drums, guitars, bass, making orchestral parts (Pip Williams btw). no, he is a songwriter and keyboard player, nothing else.
@AsianDramasRules: if you really listen to Tarja's compositions you will realize that she sings about her new life ( I feel immortal, for example), her departure from Nightwish ( Minor heaven, I walk alone) and her feelings about Tuomas in Enough. What I mean with that is she tells her own life and feelings and when you talk about feelings you for sure will be subjective and for some people unoriginal because this kind of music may have a free interpretation and it's what make good music.
@ AsianDramasRules: Tarja didin't copy Tuomas in my opinion. She was in Nghtwish for almost ten years and of course she have been influenced by Tuoma's composition because it was a huge part of her life and we can't forget that even Tuomas said many times when he wrote the songs it was done thinking about Tarja and her voice
She should make a double live dvd, one disc with her songs as a solist and the other with old nightwish songs...better a triple live dvd, disc number 3 with only classic songs. Everything she sings sounds amazing

I imagine she and Tuomas have reached an agreement of sorts, otherwise she wouldn't be allowed to sing Wishmaster or Nemo either- and that would be a tragedy!
Marcus Abrahamson you can play whatever you want live. No one gets paid just because you covered their song live. However, you need to pay royalties if you commercialize the song on a DVD for example.
@NwDevotion Descuida, jejejeje, pero si, los antiAnette son super odiosos, pero es cierto lo que dices, su voz no es la misma, antes se escuchaba más ágil su voz y su vibrato, pero no deja de ser buena cantante y de ser una Diosa. Pero sus músicos, hay... me choca como tocan lo de NW, la única que lo hace como se debe es ella!!!! los músicos no tocan mal, pero no con la misma pasión y entrega que NW, estos sólo lo hacen por sacar la melodía y ya, así que chiste
@NwDevotion tienes razón amiga, su voz no es la misma q en inicios de NW, cantaba mejor desde AFF hasta century child, y como dices, en estudio es una cosa porque grabas con toda la calma, repites, descansas, y en vivo es a como salga, y comparando esta actuación (que no deja de ser buena) con el 2002, me quedo con 2002. Y si como dices, sus músicos si me dejan mucho que desear, nomás no tocan bien lo de NW, osea, cumplen, nadamás, sacan la melodía y ya
