I'm pretty sure that Tarja, especially, has the right to sing any Nightwish song wherever and whenever she wants to. She was the original lead singer and she was the one who originally recorded vocals for this song. Admittedly her band sounds nothing like Nightwish, but i don't think that's important in this case. It's really cool that she actually wans to sing songs from the band that fired her. That just shows that music is much more important than anything else. Nightwish is an incredible band and Tuomas is a phenomenal songwriter. And i will keep supporting Nightwish throughout their career no matter what.
The way Tarja just hits those notes with such precision really is something special. And the notes she knows she's not going to hit she just improvises with another note. Yet, I still find myself liking the Floor version better. Really looking forward to the new album.
Have you Ever heard the song and Lyrics "I feel Immortal"? It seems that the only thing you know about Tarja are some song titles, because "I feel Immortal" talks about Tarja's fears, her feeling of life being so small against the time that never stops passing... and she says that only in her dreams she feels immortal (because the reality is quite the opposite). What Lies Beneath was the first album tottaly under Tarja's control, and it is a Great work with humble and sensitive lyrics!
OMG! I love this song soooo much!!! I could cry! I hope it is not too painful for her to sing the old Nightwish songs. But I agree, that she has the right to sing them. Anywhere and over and over again!
I'm glad to see I ain't the only one that realised this. classical singing does affect pronunciation. Funny thing is that most people who complain about her accent and pronunciation are non-Native speakers. I have friends from Canada and even the UK that never complained about it and actually like her a lot.
I heard Anette sing Nemo at Gibson back in January and now I've seen Tarja sing this. They're both great. I bought Imaginaerum when it came out and I will happily buy Tarja's new CD when it comes out, too. Wish everyone could just stop arguing and just enjoy the great band and the great solo artist that we still have.
I am from the Detroit area. This music gets no air play here. If I didn't search for it I would probably never have heard of Tarja or Nightwish. I am a guitarist so I search for music all over the world not just the same old stuff we hear on the radio here. I keep checking her website hoping someday I'll get a chance to see her perform. her accent is totally fine, its what makes her good. gives her voice a notable difference and makes it very good in opera and these kind of songs. i love her voice.
She's just strongly modifying a lot of the vowels she sings to suit her singing style. For example, Tarja sings the word "forever" more like "for-ee-ver", replacing the eh-vowel with the ee-vowel, which suits her classical style. "Eh" is a wide vowel, common in rock and pop. "Ee" on the other hand is a narrow vowel which is very common in opera. I hope this made sense to someone 😂

marisela olmos abreu I heard Annette first, as singer of Nightwish. (Picked them up only three years ago.) However, I am glad she is gone and the new singer did great at Waken in Germany. But it must have been something to see and hear Tarja live. She was the best of the three. Now I know why they are called Nightwish it was HER!!!!
She actually legally can't sing this song without Nightwish's permission. It's intellectual property. So, that leaves us with two conclusions: She's singing it illegally OR she's gained permission to sing this. Common sense says that given the rift between her and Nightwish, they wouldn't hesitate to take legal action if she sung this illegally. So that's not what's going on. That leaves the more logical conclusion: She and Nightwish have come to terms on a professional level and they gave her permission to sing this. Which they have. They won't likely ever reunite, but at least they put their differences aside.
+TheRisky9 That's absolutely, completely untrue. Do you think the Nightwish cover band in your town has done paperwork with Nightwish directly? The songs have been *published*. Which means that, to perform a Nightwish song, *any* Nightwish song, or record it, you *simply* have to fill the appropriate form and give a portion of the resulting income to the competent collection society (GEMA in Germany, SIAE in Italy, etc...). Even if Holopainen hates your guts, he can't prevent you from playing his songs. What he *can* do is prevent you from creating derivative works (which is exactly how Nyman was able to prevent Nightwish from covering his work, since they added *lyrics* to an instrumental).

Hater? Just because i said that? Are you serious? I didn't say that her voice isn't amazing i just said that she can sing very high pitch witch is amazing but she doesn't have it in low pitch songs! Kathrine Sixx She does actually! She has hit a few F3's in her songs. For any soprano, that's the definition of low. But since those aren't really comfortable for her to sing in, like it is her upper range, she choses to sing mostly up there.

I think her accent adds style when she sings in english. It makes her voice recognizable when you hear her singing. Because of her accent, when you hear her sing you know right away who it is. I like her accent.

If you were to do the research on both stories you would know that Tarja was out of contact from the record label AND the BAND for 6+ months. Thomas had no other choice! And she was NEVER at rehearsal. That is a KEY component for being in a band!
She could even record this in to some of her albums, if she would see a point in doing so. World is full of covers, NW does them too :-) She performs this song for the fans that love to hear her sing it, how wonderful is that, she's such a generous artist

Too bad for you guys that Tarja and her husband didn't fall on their faces when they were dismissed from the Nightwish. They're much happier these days and that is all that matters. Good luck to those guys and I hope they have what they wished for. I'm still loving Tarja and her musical career. Wish her all the best and I hope she never stops singing for us, her fans. They are both great, nightwish, and tarja. Together or separated, the ideal would be that they would be still together. If you are real fans then you will like both of them.
Tuomas wrote the music, Tarja made the vocal arrangements. It is her work that is on that Albuns too... And since Most of the fans love her to sing this song... I can't understand what Other's happiness does bad to you...? Tarja already has enough material written by herself, and she actually only sings 2 or 3 Nightwish songs Max. in each concert... BUT the thing is that Fans always scream for those Old songs! It is a part of her career that she still enjoys to play, and she is Amazing on it!
I love Tarja and Tuomas too! they both are amazing in their own way and what happened between them,that's non of our business,that's private think,The fact is that Tarja has an amazing voice and Tuomas is an amazing musician.Get over it!
