I am really so happy, someone else would not only notice the subtle changes and nuances, but would want an in-depth comparison, just as I do! Thank you for offering this level of detail, it is much appreciated.
Oh my gosh.. this information helps me! I just acquired this deck, version 2004 (unknown publisher since my cards came with no box or booklet). I already am obsessed with the deck! The cardstock and color hues are incredible! I love your channel too 🙆♀️👏
Brilliant nerd out Simon! I have the 2004 Connections edition and would say the colouration was somewhere in between your fully trimmed (St Michael’s press?) and new ‘Oh’ versions - phase two of David Banner’s transformation 😂
Thank you for sharing!! I knew there were a few differences due to one having a big book and another having a tiny book, but I never thought about the differences in coloration! Fascinating!
I love your purchases my friend 😍 the Oracle and the Tarot deck look very cool, I hope you will do walkthroughs of both of them. I have been thinking for awhile to get another Druidcraft that hasn’t been trimmed, mine was my first trim job and not that great. Amazon only have the one by Red Wheel which seems to be the latest they have so I will probably go for that one as they don’t have the OH! one. Thank you for doing this, it was fab 😍❤️
Oh I love you for this video Simon! This is my sort of content, there is nothing I like more than putting my tarot anorak on and nerding out 😎 I love the Druid Craft so much, it was my first ever deck, in 2005. Unfortunately I don't have that same one, I moved house in 2015 and I lost it somehow 😣 I replaced it a couple years ago with a small Eddison Books one from 2018, but my cards are quite glossy rather than matte, . I think maybe they do have a green hue, I've never noticed before. I've been intently staring at this naked Hanged Man for a considerable time now. I might need to get another deck purely for comparison reasons 🙈 💕
I've got a large box edition by Connections press and that is very similar to your deck with the borders and names trimmed off. I trimmed mine but left the names on. Beautiful natural vibrant colours.
This was really interesting. I bought my copy off ebay and it is the one in the smaller box by OH! Just assumed it was the same as the ones I'd seen online but with the smaller book! How mad there are differences in colour and card feel. I love the colours of mine, but really want the book!
I really love this deck! I now been looking at U.S games site. The new "Druid Craft Tarot" looks very beautiful. It´s colours are enhanced and more stronger. The lines and details of faces are much sharper. But I will wait until it gets to Sweden... then I will buy it! I also want to buy the version from Red Weel. But that one I have already ordered now. I wonder iff it´s colour will be greenish on that one too. Tanks Simon for the nerding out of this amazing deck! I love it! 🙏✨💖
This was so much fun, Simon! And helpful 🙌 All these different versions by different publishers get so confusing 😓 I actually have the large version (with the large book) of the Druid Craft by OH! and I really dislike the glossy cardstock… So it’s good to know there are matte versions available by other publishers, because I really love this deck! Thanks for sharing ☺
I'm awaiting an order from an online order in Canada. It's St. Martin's Publishing. It's not a used copy. St. Martin's must still be publishing the deck. I have been looking at this deck for years, I FINALLY decided to order a copy after watching many walkthroughs. Thank you so much for your video.
Nerdtastic! I think given that the face of the Hanged Man is that of the Green Man that the body colour perhaps reflects this reference. I think the new version is a happy medium although I quite like the greener version too!
Thanks so much Simon ! I had no idea there were different versions of this Beautiful deck.I have the Eddison Books Limited 2016 edition. I really love it ! It was my first mod deck, it came out pretty good except for i had bought a bad corner rounder and the corners came out a little wonky but i still love it. I really like the edition you traded with Elaine, Those colors are great ! Didn't know what i was missing till i watched your video! I loved your incredible hulk reference lol 😂 It really made me giggle 😂I can't seem to find the St. Michaels press edition , or the Oh! Publishing company. Blackwells is all out of all editions right now. Book Depository has a Welbeck Publishing Group. Amazon USA has Red Wheel which one reviewer said was like plastic. They also have St. Martins Essentials book and deck set. I would really like a St. Michaels Press edition if you hear where they can be found. I would love to have one 🥰I love your videos ! I always learn so much from you 🙏 Much love and Many Blessings 💚🤎🙏
Hi! I believe that oh! stands for orange hippo. You'll find it that way, I guess. As for st. Michael's I can't find anything either...wondering if it's a confusion between saints, Michael and Martin...?¿?¿
@@Santiago.s.777 Oh Awesome ! Thank you ! I didn't realize OH stands for Orange Hippo, so i just ordered that one from Book Depository. I was wondering the same thing about the St. Michaels and Martin ? It is hard to tell but i think you are right it may be St. Martins so i ordered one of those from Amazon USA with the large book. Also there are differences between different countries. I felt like i was looking for a needle in a haystack lol. Looks like i am going to being having fun with The Druid Craft. Thanks so much and good luck if you are still searching.😊
I am late watching this Simon. I was guilty of assuming 😳 I only saw the first bit of the title & figured it was about the RWS. Silly me. It was about one of my handful of favourite decks ever🥰 I have 3 copies, 2 large 1 small. I just studied them all, one of the large is St Michael's Essentials from NY. The others are both Eddison Books. All 3 are the same large size cards, the card stock is VERY slightly different in each (all lovely, all matte but the small box one is slightly shiny - not glossy - all 3 feel beautiful in the hand) As for the green look, my StM is much closer to the green of the others. None of them have the natural skin tone. I will be searching now 🤣 my ideal is a natural colour & trimmed/edged. That is why I have 3 copies but I am a chicken 🐓 Maybe I will find one in a FB group. Thank you for nerding out with us. There is nothing better 😊😘
I only have one version of the Druid Craft Tarot. After watching the Hanged Man comparison, I grabbed mine off the shelf to see if it had the greenish tint. It doesn't. Whew! It looks pretty close to the borderless version you have by St. Michael's Press...but mine was published by Connections. And it does have somewhat of a sheen. I'd like to get a second copy...just to trim down. Anyway, great video! Thanks!
I have the Red Wheel edition and it is very dark in comparison. US games has a new edition with the full size book that I'm now looking into. So very interesting the evolution of this deck.
Thanks for this! I believe Nuages is pronounced "Nu-aj" French for clouds. I really like that deck. I've never gotten Druidcraft because I've been concerned about the cardstock. I might have missed it, but which version do you think has the best??
I bought this deck's compact version two weeks ago in Germany and it looks just like yours by OH! but it is by Red Wheel. I wonder how many versions of this deck are around.
I never realized there was so many different versions of this Beautiful Deck. The Druid Craft was the first deck I also trimmed and edged, I have 2 copies the deluxe with the guide book and another Regular copy Unopened as a backup. So I went my decks to see now which ones I had . The Deluxe Copy I trimmed was the St Michael's and the Regular Deck was Connections. I pulled out The Hangman Card and saw the different. Thank you Simon for for pointing this out and Bring Oldie But Goodie Back Hugs Caroline 🥰😘💖
I was wondering is it St Michaels editions? I m trying to find it but no success...I have a first edition of Saint martins but it does have the green tint
Such a beautiful deck, thank you for showing us the color differences. I've wanted this deck but I have the Robin Wood which I also love so I've hesitated. The green hue on the deck with the large guidebook is a little off-putting, I have to say. =/ Also, really love your new intro, very peaceful and welcoming. ♥
Hello could you please tell me where i can by the druid craft tarot by Oh, the small deck. i have made a research after watching your video and i canìt find it anywhere neither on amazon. I have the big Druid craft tarot deck, i have cut it, but i want the small one. also for me is my favourite deck, i really love it, and it takes me back to another magical era.
@@the_hermits_cave Thank you for your answer. i really don't understand them. These cards are so beautiful and they see the comments of people that the cards are too big to manage them, why they don't make them smaller and make our life easier.
Good video. I'd like to buy this set but don't really want the big cards. I prefer something that is easier to shuffle. It's very confusing trying to buy this set because of all the differences. I like the set on the left but am struggling to find rhem
I also had to run and look at my copy of the deck… it’s the big box with the book, it’s by St. Martin Publishers and actually it’s kinda like a 4th version between your St Martin and your middle OH card. How many versions are there?!? 🤯
I’m so sad as I love this deck but hate the green tint on the cards in the newer print. And sadly that’s the only version Amazon have. I am definitely on the hunt for the original colour version, so thank you! as I didn’t know it even existed!!
Thank you, Simon! Btw, not sure if or how it applies to Tarot Nuages but "nuage" is French for cloud, with an "s" it's plural. Phonetically it's pronounced "new ahj". I may be one of the only people who doesn't own Druidcraft. It's never appealed to me enough to purchase but it is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
@@the_hermits_cave As long as you don't pronounce the "s" at all and pronounce the "a" as a short vowel (ah) and not a long "a" (aye) then you're good to go. I'm just glad I got to use my undergrad degree in French for something other than sounding pretentious at restaurants. Sending best wishes, mon ami!
@@the_hermits_cave Correct!! When the "s" is silent at the end of the word the plural is indicated by the pronoun: les nuages. (The singular would be le nuage.) Those French -- so subtle lol. Also, you can google the pronunciation of a word or phrase whenever you're in doubt.
I’m on the hunt for the deck that you have cut down to just the picture!!! The lifelike one with better color! Any clue on what isbn this is?!?? Thank you soooooo much
So many different versions, and still so many questions! So does a big box - big book, not glossy finish and not green cards version exists? We may never know 🤣
I purchased the "Tarot of Druids" the pictures of the Major Arcana cards are ugly and it seems like it doesn't follow the Rider-Waite system. The deck doesn't have an identity name on each card to help a new reader like me. I am confused with this deck. I will use the traditional Rider-Waite deck to begin my journey as a reader.
This is my all time favorite deck, I have 3 copies and I MUST have that Oh Publisher edition. I haven't been able to find it anywhere online. Can you give me the isbn number for it? Maybe I'll have better luck finding it that way. I've really worn my first deck from using it daily for years lol! loved this video!
You mentioned the deck on the far left was from St Michael’s Press. Did you mean St Martin’s Press? That’s the only “sainted” publisher I could find that carries it. 😊
Which version has the full size guidebook, Simon? Thanks for this video! I have ALWAYS wondered how many versions of Druidcraft are around! Thank you so much!
Edison, but be careful as they do a smaller version two. I would check the guidebook size before purchasing. If it shows that the guidebook is 80 pages then it will be the smaller version.
There doesn't seem to be a copyright on the OH version, just wondering why? Or am I just not seeing it? I see OH is for Orange Hippo, part of the Wellbeck Group, so assuming it's not fake?
@@the_hermits_cave The Wellbeck , I'm not sure who the are but I know they have items in Waterstones. When I saw there was no copyright (or I didn't see one) I google OH publishing and it took me to Orange Hippo, which is part of the Wellbeck Publishing Group. I assume they are legit if they are in Waterstones but I just thought it was strange not to have the copyright.
Thanks for doing this Simon.I didnt realise that the Druidcraft had different publications and i just examained my 2 copies closely. I have the connections published deck with the small 80p guide book and the Orange Hippo published deck with the 192 page book. I think St Martins Press is a US Publishers and Connections is a UK and AUS publisher 🤎
So interesting! I love this deck too! My big book copy says first St. Martin's Edition 2004 in the book, and 2004 on the card backs. It was apparently actually released in 2005. The ISBN is 978-0-312-31502-3. The colours are not green-hued at all, and the cards are quite matte, and are in a single stack within the box which has a lift-off lid. Thank you for sharing, Simon!🙂❤️
Thanks for this! I love the two colorful versions of the Druidcraft, now I want one like that too. My Hanged Man (and the rest of the deck) is greenish, the tree is greenish... but it is a St Martins deck, ISBN 978-1-250-30742-2. Could this be a matter of color correction done to newer decks rather than a difference between publishers?
