Small guidebooks should be sufficient for working with the specific oracle deck at hand, but big books that tell the ins and outs of the differences and specific spreads or mythology of the authors is good to have available. I like how The Druid Craft Tarot allows the cards to indicate ascending and decline in the same images.

Thanks for your comment. The cards in the larger box are slightly thinner, but only just.

the small box as the guide book is a manageable size
