How does this group have so many members for a small sleepy Tampa suburb known for a history of sponge diving and Greek food? And they're superb as well. Who or what is responsible for this quality and quantity?
I went to Tarpon and performed in the band. The director is incredible. He leads a strong band boosters program and teaches a highly successful leadership course for the students. The participation of the parents have a huge impact on the success of the organization. The student leaders take a leadership course and the director heavily empowers them and gives them the authority to lead the quality of the culture and musical/ visual product to where it needs to be. He puts the power into the hands of the students while holding them accountable to maintain a high standard of excellence.
It blows me away that this band doesn’t win every year. They aren’t the loudest but their shows are always the most highly executed and thematically sound shows you ever see.
@@josephfarkas1639 As someone who was a part of that performance in 2018, I truly appreciate it! I was kind of sad we didn't place higher but I also was in a band that never made it past prelims for 2 years prior so, I was just happy to be there in the first place.
Copyright clearance is worked out months in advance, in the early planning phase. Can't afford it? Can't play it. Or in this case, can't afford it? Then adapt it until it's barely recognizable, then don't pay a dime. These arrangers are capable of original compositions, but those cost money too.
