TAS originally published on 2020-04-10
This is the NES version of the first game in the popular Prince of Persia series. The hero must escape out of the palace dungeons in order to defeat Jaffar and save the princess from certain death.
Challenger (tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/C...) saved 00:10.13 seconds over the previous run (tasvideos.org/502M) via better movement, some faster fights, and a trick that allows the hero to start moving more quickly after obtaining the sword. The detailed list of improvements is in the submission notes (tasvideos.org/6680S).
We also have runs of the SNES (tasvideos.org/3271M), Genesis (tasvideos.org/1193M), Sega CD (tasvideos.org/3317M), and TurboGrafx-CD (tasvideos.org/3523M) ports, as well as a run that just completes the SNES training levels (tasvideos.org/3670M).

This is a very challenging game! I can only imagine how many tries I would need to beat it, just by the time limit alone... Also the soundtrack is great.

7:04, 12:20, 16:03 - Prince's maximum HP increases (15:34 - decreases) on the next level. Why?

You start each level with a predetermined amount of HP for that level. Naturally, passwords don't save HP info either.

Lol, the NES version has to scroll the screen due to being in a lower resolution than the original computer versions (256x224 of NES vs 320x240 of most computers). The SNES had the same resolution as the NES, but it redrawn most of the graphics to at least compensate. So why didn't NES version do that?

It's almost as if they couldn't be bothered to finish the NES version and just stopped at level 14. "Meh, just make some random dude on level 13 as Jaffar and then slap the princess at the end of a hallway on level 14 - done." The SNES port (the one I'm familiar with) had so many more levels and detail.
