Yeah it actually is. Because of how the game stores instructions in its ram and the limitations of the ram you can perform arbitrary code execution like this.
It's always good to see the old route re-optimized and improved to showcase a more normal run than the any% TAS. I wonder if speedrunners will ever get to use some of these strategies with proper setup. Good to see a real game run out of you for once.
My friend: What's your favourite programming language? Me: Super Mario World. F: That wasn't an option... Me: (This video and many other SMW code execution vids)
At the beginning I was kind of sad that such glitch could be used to change the way 11 Exit works, but it was really interesting in the end. It is in a sense valid to say that the registered speed run WR is at least 1 minute and 40 seconds away from the theoretical limit. I wonder what the glitchless limit is, that would be the "pure math" limit.
I literally just sat in my chair with my mouth agape for like twelve minutes. I then tried all of this stuff myself, and I had to calm myself down after multiple attempts
Find the first glitch ever found Try to find other glitches with the first glitch Spread the glitch on youtube Try to find glitches with a bunch of random glitches Find a new glitch! That's what I think at least :P
Levi Willrich No, this is real Ok maybe not “Do not think I wrote a code in RAM that allows me to change my position at any time by using the 3rd and 4th controller!!!! I totally wouldn't do that!!!” Also this was uploaded April 1st
In the years this has been out I honestly still cannot tell weather this is a joke or not It being uploaded on April first and the description saying “You can go ahead and skip YI2 if you want, I mean it's not like there is something important happening right there... Do not think I wrote a code in RAM that allows me to change my position at any time by using the 3rd and 4th controller!!!! I totally wouldn't do that!!!” Make me think it is a joke but it being uploaded to tasvideos and it being used in other things (such as the super marihour tas) is making me think otherwise
Me during the fight with Bowser, having basic understandings of the game's mechanics: Do the thing when you reset his animation going on the top left of the screen! Jun: *destroys the boss with ease* Me : ...or that
I'm supprise no one notice, that in yoshi island 3, and 4, since he finish the level as soon as it start, he gain a extra life before the score his calculated, walkthrough never mention how this happen, since the star point are at 0, hiting a goal, or finishing a castle gives a 1-up if the timer his stop on X00, other condition his starpoint at 11, timer has to stop at X11, star point at 22, timer as to be stop at X22, so you know the other condition.
hey Jun, I have a question. Why is it only super Mario world that has all these insane glitches? Also, how long and how do you find these things? I know how much you love when people capitalize the j in your name :)
If there's a way to get the cloud past 1-Castle then you could potentially do both the cloud and the orb. Edit: what is this speedrun!? You are just warping to the end of the level!?
What the fuck... Amazing... Damn I have no words... It looks like Sonic 3 and Knuckles glitches of marzojr nitsuja and Upthorn... Master Of Glitch and Corruption... Do you work for the Mario Mafia ??? :-)
...I mean, i've seen all of the Let's Glitch SMW, but I still can't fucking figure out if he still had to input stuff or not to get the instant end of the levels... ...more like SMWTF lmao
So what exactly did you do in the first level? I know of manipulating the game but i never saw this outcome which literally makes the game look like gamegenie did something to it lol
