i'm just now realizing, 16 years later, that tekken 4 has no infinite stages. although some stages are infinite in certain directions, like the airport, they all have at least one wall.
Yep and apparently Tekken fans hated it, especially the uneven ground. So if you were on steps below a character and they did a low kick on you, it would actually hit your mid section or head and people hated to. I only found this out when, to my dismay, I popped in my brand new release copy of Tekken 5 and it went right back to flat grounds, levels that surround you by a wall sometimes or the infinite stages. I was confused and horribly disappointed. Just LOOK at the water effects in the jungle stage too and how well they still hold up for what they are. Hilariously, Tekken 6 that launched a console gen later, had terrible water effects in a forest stage. And sadly, we have never seen the Tekken characters get a massive change in design since Tekken 4. For example, Kazuya has pretty much looked like he has since Tekken 4 like the way all the characters in Dead of Alive 6 STILL pretty much look the same as they did since DOA2. Netherrealm seem to be the only ones that aren't afraid to completely build their fighter character models from the ground up with every single game they made in the last few years.
This is why I prefer T4 over T7 (despite missing out of Eliza and Akuma) I liked how the levels gave a reason to not be caught near a pole/car/ect. Beats the same flat Tekken 5-7 levels.
I grew up playing both Street Fighter and Tekken, so when Akuma came to Tekken, I knew I would be overjoyed using my favourite karate GI wearing demon and all I knew about him in the same game as Tekken, giving me a little headstart on training with him/Eliza. Marduk is better than Gigas though to me since he represented Vale Tudo, and was a down to Earth character with personality, but Gigas just lakcs any and has a ridiculous look. That and he also had a bit of Goldberg in him which gave my wrestling fan side a lot of joy.
